Dear colleagues,
As is usual I share now (below) the main useful results from my inquiry
about Maturity Models for IST in Healthcare.
I obtained little feedback, most requesting the results of my inquiry :-)
Kind regards,

Estimado Álvaro
My department colleagues and I've been working on this topic for several
years and developed several distinct maturity models for the healthcare
domain:
1) We developed a maturity model for the alignment between the IT and
the medical departments (in other industries usually referred to as
business/IT-alignment). Related to this topic we published some articles
(but not the maturity model itself) in some international journals:
* René Fitterer, Tobias Mettler, Peter Rohner et al. (2011) Taxonomy
for multi-perspective assessment of the value of health information
systems
<http://www.mendeley.com/research/taxonomy-multiperspective-assessment-value-health-information-systems-accepted-6/>,
45--61. In /International Journal of Healthcare Technology and
Management/12 (1).
* René Fitterer, Peter Rohner (2010) Towards assessing the
networkability of health care providers: a maturity model approach,
309-333. In /Information Systems and E-Business Management 8 (3)/
The full version of maturity model is unfortunately only available in
German and used by some 15-20 hospitals here in Switzerland.
2) We developed a maturity model for measuring the supply chain
management capabilities of hospitals. Here is an article about that:
* Tobias Mettler (2011) Transformation of the hospital supply chain:
how to measure the maturity of supplier relationship management
systems in hospitals?
1-13. In /International Journal of Healthcare Information Systems
and Informatics/6 (2).
3) We are currently developing a maturity model for measuring the
"interfaces" between hospitals and other stakeholders (e.g. general
practitioners, governmental authorities, etc.):
* André Blondiau et al. (2011) Towards a Hospital Cooperation Maturity
Model - Construction and Evaluation of a Maturity Model and
a corresponding Tool for the Identification of Challenges and
Success Factors for Cooperation in the Hospital Sector.
/In Proceedings of the 15th International Symposium for Health
Information Management Research, 438-448./
We also were looking for new ways how to design maturity models based on
mathematical algorithms (instead of the usual "good guessing") as well
as defined some guidelines for developing maturity models:
* Gerrit Lahrmann, Frederik Marx, Tobias Mettler, Robert Winter, Felix
Wortmann (2011) Inductive Design of Maturity Models: Applying the
Rasch Algorithm for Design Science Research
<http://www.mendeley.com/research/inductive-design-maturity-models-applying-rasch-algorithm-design-science-research/>,
176-191. In /Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on
Design Science Research in Information Systems and Technology/.
* Tobias Mettler (2011) Maturity assessment models: a design science
research approach
<http://www.mendeley.com/research/maturity-assessment-models-design-science-research-approach-press/>,
81-98. In /International Journal of Society Systems Science/3 (1/2).
* Tobias Mettler (2010) Thinking in terms of design decisions when
developing maturity models
<http://www.mendeley.com/research/thinking-terms-design-decisions-developing-maturity-models-accepted-4/>,
76-87. In /International Journal of Strategic Decision Sciences/1 (4)
* Tobias Mettler, Peter Rohner (2009) Situational Maturity Models as
Instrumental Artifacts for Organizational Design
<http://www.mendeley.com/c/4535244085/p/41792/mettler-2009-situational-maturity-models-as-instrumental-artifacts-for-organizational-design/>.
In /Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Design
Science Research in Information Systems and Technology (DESRIST 2009)/.
Hope my input is helpful to you. Please, don't hesitate to contact me in
case you need further materials. Besides that, we are always open for
collaboration in this field (as you also noticed, there are not much
collaborators).
Best regards to Porto
Tobias

Hi
Your student might find:
R D Galliers& A R Sutherland (1991). "Information Systems Management and Strategy Formulation: The 'Stages of Growth' Model Revisited", Journal of Information Systems (now Information Systems Journal), 1(2): 89-114
of interest.
It's a bit dated, and more general in its coverage, but it contains reflections on a number of stages models.
It's also published as a chapter in the SIM book, listed below my signature.
