The Fox School of Business and Management at Temple University invites
prospective students to apply for its exciting PhD program in Management
Information Systems (MIS). The vision of the MIS department is to be a
worldwide leader in transformative research and teaching on the design,
use, and effects of information technology in a digital world. The research
mission of the department is to produce knowledge that fundamentally
transforms the design and use of information technology by integrating
multi-disciplinary perspectives. To realize this vision, the PhD program is
an important critical success factor. The PhD program in MIS at Fox is
committed to produce high caliber doctoral faculty who are ready to assume
responsibilities at top-tier research universities and able to take on high
impact research. A hallmark of our program is active collaboration between
faculty and Ph.D. students.

Our program has highly acclaimed faculty members with extraordinary
research records and outstanding experiences in mentoring doctoral
students. Our department is ranked No. 1 worldwide for research in IS (*MIS
Quarterly* and *Information Systems Research*) in 2010. The *Chronicle of
Higher Education* also ranked our department as the top 10 in the world in
faculty research productivity. Many of our former students are faculty
members at leading institutions around the world. Our faculty members are
on the editorial board of leading academic journals in the field such as *MIS
Quarterly*, *Information Systems Research*, *Management Science* and
*Organization
Science*. They are working on exciting and innovative research projects
funded by the National Science Foundation, NASA, IBM, Samsung, Lockheed
Martin, Merck, and Campbell Soup. The Fox School has made a major
commitment to the MIS department as the only free standing IS department in
the Philadelphia area. Our research portfolio covers a wide range of topics
including ecommerce, innovation, competitive strategy, social computing,
virtual teams, and mobile computing.

All qualified students receive full financial support including tuition and
stipend.  We also provide generous travel support to present your work at
leading academic conferences and there are fellowship opportunities for top
quality PhD students. For truly outstanding candidates, we also provide
additional incentives through additional summer funding. Students also have
the opportunity to receive funding from the Institute for Business and
Information Technology which partners with some of the leading corporations
in the world.
