*Book Objectives*
The primary objective of this book is to fill some of the void in the
provision of suitable techniques and strategies in the successful
application of Knowledge Discovery & Data Mining (KDDM) across multiple
domains and region. The book is primarily focus on topics of interest *to*or
*about* developing economies.  It is intended to serve as a reference guide
for data analyst, managers, executives, researchers and students in how to
successfully manage and implement data mining initiatives in organizations.

The book seeks to explain the KDDM process in a simple, practical and
easily implementable manner by:

   - Identifying and discussing some of the key challenges, issues and
   considerations in managing data mining projects across all the KDDM
   processes,
   - Discussing some of the key concepts and techniques in developing
   robust and complete data mining objectives aligned to strategic business
   objectives,
   - Discussing some of the key concepts and techniques necessary for
   modelling data to satisfy requirements, and
   - Discussing the social implications of data mining including security,
   privacy, ethical and legal considerations.

Recommended topics include, but are not limited to:

   - Best practices and methodologies in KDDM
   - KDDM Process models
   - Privacy and security issues in KDDM projects
   - Management of KDDM projects:
   - Economics of data mining
   - Legal and legislative concerns of big data
   - Cases in KDDM from developing, emerging & transition economies
   - Applications and cases of KDDM in businesses and government
   (education, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, criminal justice
   administration, social media, and more)
   - Computer security in data mining

*Target Audience*
The book is intended for practitioners, academic researchers, including
experienced researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, engaged in
KDDM activities particularly in less developed
and emerging countries.

*Submission Procedure*
All are invited to submit on or before June 30, 2013, a 2-3 page chapter
proposal clearly outlining and explaining the area of focus, objective and
content of the proposed chapter to kddm4dev at gmail.com. Authors of accepted
proposals will be notified by July 20, 2013 about the status of their
proposals and will be sent chapter writing guidelines.
