Illinois State University invites applications for the position of Director of the School of Information Technology  The Director is responsible for long-range planning, fiscal management, personnel recruitment, advancement, assessment, school accreditations, curriculum review and development, and oversight of the teaching and research laboratories.  The Director shall encourage high quality research, teaching, and service and advocate for the resources needed to sustain the school’s mission. The Director shall develop partnerships within and outside the university as well as promote the school’s programs to alumni, business, government agencies, and other educational institutions.  

To be considered, applicants must hold a doctoral degree in an area appropriate to the School of Information Technology with academic achievement that merits appointment with tenure. Applicants must have the ability to work collegially and effectively with faculty, students, administrative colleagues, alumni, and professional communities served by the unit.  Applicants should have successful experiences in accreditation, teaching, administration, graduate education, a record of significant accomplishments in research, and demonstrated experience in grant, contract, or project activities. The position is a twelve-month tenure track appointment. The salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is included.

The Information Systems program is among the largest in the nation. The Network & Telecommunications Management program is one of the very few in the country to be offered at the bachelor's level. Illinois State University is located in the growing twin cities of Bloomington and Normal, which have a combined population of approximately 130,000. The community is conveniently located approximately two hours from both Chicago and St. Louis, and it is home to State Farm Insurance Companies, Mitsubishi Motors North America, Country Financial, Illinois Wesleyan University, Lincoln College-Normal and Heartland Community College. The twin cities are serviced by Amtrak, as well as air transportation at the Central Illinois Regional Airport.
