Dear colleagues

Savannah is the home of some of the best restaurants in the US. It is also one of the most delightfully walkable cities in the country. The historic district is set out with 22 squares, each about two blocks from the next, in every direction. Each square is beautiful in its own way, with restaurants and cafes on some, and interesting historic houses on others. The river and historic district create an ambiance for socializing with your friends while enjoying fine dining. We want to give you the chance to savor the local cuisine and experience Savannah at night.

On Thursday, the reception will be a Low Country Boil (sausage, shrimp, crab, potatoes and corn) on the banks of the river outside the conference center. A Low Country Boil derives from the cuisine of the Gullah/Geechee peoples of the Sea Islands along the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina.

On Friday and Saturday nights, you can enjoy a cocktail on the riverfront before catching a free water taxi across the Savannah River, then stroll through some of the squares on your way to your chosen restaurant. You will be able to use your AMCIS 2014 coupon book to get a great deal at selected restaurants. We will have a concierge at the conference center to help you find a restaurant for your group. This will be a great opportunity for SIGs to have a social meeting.

Come to AMCIS 2014 for a stimulating conference and a great taste of Savannah.

Cheers

Tom Case, Eph McLean and Rick Watson
