Tenure Track Assistant Prof. in Information Technology Management /
Digital Forensics
The School of Business and the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and
Policy at the University at Albany (SUNY) are seeking a tenure-track
Assistant Professor with expertise in digital forensics and international
relations to complement a growing team of scholars in an interdisciplinary
Digital Forensics initiative.
Strong candidates for the position will have a background combining
expertise in digital forensics and international relations that would
enable research on topics such as cyber warfare, cyber espionage and
transnational cyber crime. Expertise in creating and evaluating forensics
procedures is highly desirable. Also desirable, would be expertise in
computer science, information security, network analysis, international
security
treaties, cyber security policies, and incident response. The successful
candidate will have a primary appointment with a tenure home in the School
of Business with an option for a secondary appointment in Rockefeller
College of Public Affairs and Policy. The successful candidate will be
expected to contribute to ongoing and new interdisciplinary research
projects, undergraduate courses for a new Digital Forensics major,
featuring both face-to-face and online teaching, and graduate courses that
are jointly listed in the Digital Forensics Program and Rockefeller
College¹s new Masters of International Affairs program.
This is a 10-month appointment that allows for supplementary summer salary
from research funding. The normal teaching load is two courses per
semester for faculty who work with graduate students and who are research
active (before course buyouts). We expect new faculty to strengthen our
majors, strengthen our undergraduate and graduate programs, and strengthen
the University mission through: (i) teaching with distinction, (ii)
maintaining a strong externally funded research program, (iii) effective
mentoring graduate students, and (iv) participating in, as necessary,
service
to the department, college, university and community. Participation in
research, as well as curriculum, program, lab development, advisement,
management, teaching, and grant activities are expected and there is a
strong preference for candidates with a demonstrated experience in
applying for and obtaining external funding.
Requirements:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Information Technology Management,
Computer Science, Informatics, International Relations, Political Science
or a closely related discipline from a college or university accredited by
a USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization. Candidates
should have an earned Ph.D. in hand by the starting
date in September 2015 but we will consider exceptional ABD candidates who
expect to defend and complete their dissertation work in Fall 2015.
Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to work with and
instruct culturally diverse groups of people.
