Special Issue on

 

Healthcare Information Technology for Development: Improvements in
people's lives through innovations in the uses of technologies.

Aims and Scope

With the explosive growth of Information and Communications Technology
(ICT), emerging infrastructures, and devices, the provision of healthcare
is increasingly taking place through these technologies. Healthcare
services can now be provided to anyone, anywhere, and anytime through
these innovations. These services and technologies provide patients,
doctors, and healthcare organizations immediate access to healthcare
information for efficient decision making as well as better treatment.
This special issue aims to report high quality research on recent advances
in various aspects of healthcare IT for Development, more specifically
research and experience from low income countries. We focus on covering
innovative approaches to meeting health IT and Development outcomes where
the concept of Development can be assessed through improvements in
healthcare outcomes, provision and services. .  The special issue invites
theoretical and/or empirical papers that draw upon new innovations in
technology for health, especially mobile applications, to show health
development outcomes. We invite you to address new Public Health
challenges, such as universal health coverage, rise of non-communicable
diseases, and occurrences of other new challenges and emergencies.

Papers that address novel research questions on any of the above topics or
similar topics related to how Health Information Technologies may enable
improvements in people's lives to take place are encouraged. Conceptually
strong papers with theoretical contributions are highly sought after as
well as empirically grounded research that adds to what we know about how
health IT may enable development outcomes to be achieved. 

 

Deadlines

Deadline for submissions of papers: August 24, 2015

Notification of initial acceptance: December 30, 2015

Deadline for revised papers: January 18, 2016

Notification of final acceptances: March 15, 2016

Deadline for final versions: April 18, 2016

Tentative Publication Date: July  2016

 

Paper Submission Instructions

Authors are invited to submit original papers using the journal submission
and reviewing web site https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/itd. In order to
submit your paper, please register through this website to create an
account. When uploading your paper please indicate that it is being
submitted for the ICT for Human Developments special issue. Authors must
simultaneously email an electronic copy of the submitted paper to the
guest editors (email addresses below).

 

This journal follows a double blind review process. All papers will
undergo a process of one or more rounds of double blind review. After
initial screening, full research papers will be reviewed by selected
members of the editorial board and peers from an international pool of
researchers for quality, consistency and research contribution. Particular
attention is paid to the use of research method. Please refer to papers
published in the Journal when developing your manuscript. These may be

Please remember to remove all your personal identifiable information from
the main manuscript before submitting it for review. Submissions to ITD
may be either full research papers published in the main part of the
Journal, or commentaries published in the section "Views from Practice"). 

Papers must contain original results and must not be submitted elsewhere
