The Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Towson University invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level, with an expected start date of August 2017. The positions are in two specific areas:
1. Software Engineering - The department offers software engineering specializations at both the undergraduate and graduate levels along with active software engineering student groups. A successful candidate will be able to establish strong teaching and research records in one or more of the following areas: mobile, web and cloud engineering, software architecture, parallel and distributed systems and/or secure software engineering.
2. Cybersecurity - Towson University leads in the nation in Cybersecurity education. The department is a NSA/DHS National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE) since 2002. In 2013, Towson was designated as a NSA CAE in Cyber Operations, one of only sixteen such institutions in the nation. A successful candidate will have expertise in teaching and research in one or more of the following areas: reverse engineering, wireless security, SCADA systems, forensics, and/or application security.
The positions require a Ph.D., or comparable terminal degree, in Computer Science or a related field. The selected candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop strong research programs, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, apply for external funding, and participate in department activities.
The Department offers an ABET/CAC-accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, including specialized tracks in cybersecurity and software engineering, a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, a Master of Science degree in Applied Information Technology, and a Doctor of Science degree in Information Technology. The Department of Computer and Information Sciences has approximately 40 full-time faculty members, collectively over 1200 undergraduate majors in the Computer Science, Information Systems, and Information Technology programs, and approximately 400 graduate students.
