ESSEC Business School

The Chair of Networked Business Models is looking for a

Research Fellow

ESSEC is one of the leading European Business Schools, and a French
“Grande Ecole” with three campuses, one in the Paris metropolitan
area, one in Singapore, and one in Morocco. It offers graduate level
training in business administration (MSc, MBA, Executive MBA,
Specialized Masters, PhD, etc.). Its Master in Management (MiM)
program was ranked #3 worldwide in the last Financial Times ranking.

The Chair of Networked Business Models opens a full-time Research
Fellow (post-doctorate) position to conduct research in business model
innovation, digital business, platforms and ecosystems strategy. The
position is open for the Singapore campus.

The Chair’s mission is to produce and to diffuse knowledge on business
model innovation in a networked world. We are currently aiming to
enhance the understanding of the transition from linear value chains
to networked business models for traditional companies. Therefore, a
special focus is given to business ecosystem shaping strategies. In
order to achieve its mission, the Chair has set itself to the
following objectives:

- To develop and pilot digital business models for a traditionally
non-digital consumer goods company.

- To contribute to new intellectual knowledge and understanding of how
emerging networked business models and the knowledge economy generate
economic and social performance, including developing models,
experimental pilots and metrics for evaluating effective governance,
organizational practices and stakeholder benefits.

- To develop business school curricula that will educate future
leaders and owners of organizations in the principles of
ecosystem-driven business models and alternative, fundamentally
mutual, ways of doing business.

- To develop academic research networks and collaborations

The Chair of Networked Business Models is held by Prof. Jan Ondrus.
The Chair closely collaborates with the Center of Excellence for
Digital Business, which has a mission to coordinate all ESSEC
activities in the digital domain and develop additional initiatives in
terms of research, teaching, corporate support or participation in
public debates. Therefore, Prof. Jan Ondrus and Prof. Nicolas Glady
(Director of the Center) will together supervise the different
research projects in collaboration with multinational companies.

The full-time Research Fellow position aims at reinforcing the Chair’s
research efforts and to develop its activities. Research Fellows are
required to be in residence for the duration of the appointment. The
dates of the employment relationship can be negotiated, starting at
earliest in January 2017. The position is offered ideally for a period
of 1 or 2 years.

We are looking for a highly motivated junior scholar whose research
interests and skills are aligned with the Chair’s objectives. We are
particularly interested in candidates who believe that academic
excellence and practical relevance should go hand in hand.

Specific duties will include:
1) contribute to the definition of the research agenda of the Chair
2) manage and contribute to specific research projects within the Chair’s agenda
3) disseminate research findings, in particular through peer-reviewed
publications, white papers destined to industry practitioners and
academic conferences
4) manage and contribute to the production of case studies, reports,
