*THE UNIVERSITY:* California State University, East Bay is known for

buildings of the Hayward Hills campus, on 342 acres, contain over 150

*THE COLLEGE: *CSUEB’s College of Business and Economics offers 6 degree
programs (BS in Business Administration, MBA, BA and MA in Economics, MS in
Accountancy, and MSBA in Business Analytics) spanning 4 departments:
Accounting and Finance, Economics, Management, Marketing and
Entrepreneurship. The College’s distinguished faculty represents a
multinational, multicultural diverse group providing a wealth of wide-range
of global experiences and expertise in various fields. The College is AACSB
accredited since 1973 and has been nationally ranked by the *Princeton
Review* (2014).
*THE DEPARTMENT: *The Department of Management is staffed by more than 20
full-time, tenure-track faculty organized into the following interest
groups: Strategy & International Business, Human Resources Management,
Information Technology Management (ITM), and Operations & Supply Chain
Management (OSCM). The position described here is for the M.S. in Business
Analytics (MSBA), which is offered mainly by ITM and OSCM groups. The MSBA
program within the Department of Management benefits from our proximity to
a large number of vibrant high-tech companies that define the Bay Area as a
tier one platform for information technology as well as business analytics.
*DUTIES OF THE POSITION: *We seek an individual who has strong research and
teaching interests in the subject areas that are relevant to Business
Analytics, including research and teaching in one or more of the following
areas: big data technologies such as spark, object oriented programming for
business analytics, text mining and social media analytics, machine
learning, deep learning, NoSQL database technology, SAS/R programming, and
time series and longitudinal data analysis.
The successful applicant is expected to be an excellent teacher, a
productive researcher, and a helpful colleague. Please note that teaching
assignments at California State University, East Bay can include courses at
the Hayward, Concord and Online campuses as well as in off-campus programs
in Oakland and San Ramon. The successful applicant should also possess a
doctoral degree emphasizing advanced foundational discipline-based
research. In addition to teaching and research, all faculty assist the
department with administrative and/or committee work as well as campus-wide
committee responsibilities.
*RANK AND SALARY: *Full time, tenure-track position at the rank of
Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary is dependent upon educational
preparation and experience. Availability of position is subject to
budgetary authorization.
*DATE OF APPOINTMENT: *Fall Semester, 2018.
*QUALIFICATIONS: *Required: (1) an earned doctoral degree in Business
Analytics or related fields, with degree in hand no later than the
effective date of the appointment (if the institution is a business school,
it is preferred that the institution is AACSB accredited); (2) an ability
or experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or community service that
has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and
excellence; (3) a demonstrated record of scholarly activities; (4) a
demonstrated record or capability of teaching excellence in the designated
areas; and (5) strong communication skills. Desirable: Business experience
and versatility in teaching some IT or Operations courses.
