The INSITE Center for Business Intelligence and Analytics ( https://www.insiteua.org/ ), part of the Department of Management Information Systems ( https://mis.eller.arizona.edu/ ), at the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, invites applications for a developer (applications & database). This is an NSF-funded project and a very exciting opportunity to be part of cutting-edge research. Continuing in the position is subject to a successful annual review, up to a maximum of three years.
The selected candidate will develop scalable techniques for organizing, analyzing and publishing big data arising from a variety of archaeological and anthropological sources including archaeological archives, reports, museum collections and existing databases. The candidate will integrate the disparate data sources using Neo4J. They will also develop a web front-end and a suite of tools to support the retrieval and analysis of data. The selected candidate should be comfortable with all phases of the software development life cycle.

INSITE's expertise is specifically in scalable network analysis, visualization, large scale graph mining and predictive modeling. INSITE conducts inter-disciplinary multi-methodology research.

Minimum Qualifications
* Proven experience programming in languages such as Java, Python, C# and/or R.
* Proven experience with SQL and relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle or SQL Server.
* Experience with Neo4J.
* Proven experience with HTML5, CSS3, PHP (or similar language), Javascript, JQuery.
* Experience with designing and implementing web-based front-ends for databases.
* Experience with version control systems such as Git.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or higher in MIS, Computer Science or a related field.
* Experience working an inter-disciplinary team of researchers.
* Knowledge of NoSQL platforms.
* Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
* Experience with data visualization tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.
* Experience with research methods including data mining, statistics, and graph/network analysis.
* Expertise with graph theory, complex network analysis and visualization.
* A deep understanding of database concepts like joins, indexes, aggregation, SQL optimization.
* Strong knowledge of programming constructs, e.g. flow control, data structures and design patterns.
* Experience with development/deployment, testing methodologies and scalability concerns.
* Experience with server administration, including database and web server operations.
* Experience with modern programming methodologies and frameworks.
* Experience with build and release automation, including unit and integration testing, continuous integration, continuous development, and monitoring.
