Dear AIS Academic Community,
If you were on the job market last year and have settled into your new job this fall (or even last fall), please spend a few minutes and pay it forward! Using the link below, please help future candidates obtain fair offers, as previous candidates have undoubtedly helped you!
We are at the beginning of another recruiting year, and two things are important right now:
1. Many graduates have received university job offers that are not yet recorded
2. Universities are planning their hiring for Fall 2018 and need the information
I have already received requests from universities for salary offer survey information. Please note that There are only four entries so far for Fall 2017. Given that this is a salary OFFER survey, not a salary survey, please enter the information for each of your offers. If you have multiple offers, it might be helpful to print the first page prior to submitting so you can more quickly go through the demographic and publication questions repeatedly. If you fill the information out non-anonymously, and have multiple offers, just send me a note I will copy your demographic and publication information (all the 9 fields after "Is the institution unionized?") from your first entry to the others.
If you are a University, please use the same link below to obtain the Pivot Table. Please choose the proper categories for your search, as the numbers vary widely depending on those categories. For instance, if you choose USA, Research School, PhD/DBA as credentials of the candidates, and "Have accepted" as "offer accepted?" status, you will see 3 offers averaging $148,333 at schools offering a PhD and 1 offer at $105,000 at a school offering MBA as the highest degree. The sample size is obviously too small to draw any meaningful conclusions for recruiting year 2015-2016 (starting a position in 2016). There are zero offers reported for all those criteria at Doctoral granting schools for recruiting year 2016-2017 (starting a position in Fall 2017). This is why we need your data!
The survey has been moved to a more modern infrastructure (Google Forms) but now the only way to examine the results is through the Pivot Table generously created and maintained by Prof. Ido Millet of Penn State Erie. I provide him with batches of candidates at a time and he has to juggle some fields, so the updating might take a week or so after you enter your offers.
At this time of year, this information is crucial!
