The George MasonUniversity Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) Area, withinthe School of Business, seeks applicants for a Term Instructor/AssistantProfessor (non-tenure track) to begin Spring 2018 to meet teaching needsprimarily in the Management Information Systems (MIS) discipline. The school seeksapplicants who aspire to an academic career with a primary focus on teaching.  The initial appointment will be for January2018-May 2019. Subsequent renewals are based on performance, programmatic needsand budgetary constraints. This is a full-time position with benefits. Rankassignment is contingent on level and type of experience and education. Salarywill be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position does notsupport work visa sponsorship.

 

Responsibilities:

The standard teachingload for this position will be 4:4 but may vary in accordance with unitworkload policy based on qualifications. There is an opportunity for teaching in summer for extra compensation.Other responsibilities include service to the ISOM area School of Business, andthe university, such as student mentoring, committees, and interfacing withstudents and the business community. 

 

Required Qualifications:

·      Graduatedegree (i.e., M.S.) in MIS or a related discipline.;

·      Possessthe academic and professional credentials to effectively teach undergraduateMIS courses; and 

·      Goodcitizenship in terms of service is critical as is the ability to work well withcolleagues. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·      Ph.D. in MIS or related discipline;

·      Credentialsthat enable the candidate to teach a wide variety of courses among both thecore and elective MIS courses in the undergraduate ISOM major;

·       Ability to teach specialized IScourses in these graduate programs.  These courses are offered in the M.S. in Technology Management andM.B.A. programs.
