=====================================================================
The Evaluation and Assessment in Software Engineering (EASE) conference is an internationally leading venue for academics and practitioners to present and discuss their research on evidence-based software engineering, and its implications for software practice. The 22nd edition of EASE will take place in June 2018 in Christchurch, New Zealand, hosted by the University of Canterbury.
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
EASE2018 welcomes high-quality Research track submissions describing original and unpublished research, as full papers and short papers. EASE2018 will also feature an Impact-to-Industry track and an Emerging Researchers' Forum (see details below.) Submissions may cover any topic relating to evidence-based software engineering, such as:
- Experiments and quasi-experiments
- Replications of empirical studies
- Case studies and Action research
- Experience reports
- Survey research
- Field studies
- Ethnographic and observational studies
- Systematic reviews, mapping studies and meta-analyses
- Methodological issues and practices
- Grounded theory
- Tools to support research and evaluation
SUBMISSION
Submitted papers must be written in English, should not have been submitted for review or published elsewhere, must conform to the ACM SIG Proceedings template, and will be accepted via EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ease2018). All papers will be reviewed by at least three members of the EASE Programme Committee. Full papers will be double-blind reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings in the ACM Digital Library.
EMERGING RESEARCHERS' FORUM
http://erf2018.softwareinnovation.nz
For the first time EASE will feature an Emerging Researchers' Forum (ERF). The goal of the ERF is to bring together emerging researchers in the field of empirical software engineering. Topics of interest include all those listed above for the EASE2018 conference. The ERF will provide a supportive venue in which emerging researchers can discuss potential and ongoing research that is at any stage of development, from ideas to results, enabling them to get feedback on their work, to exchange experiences, and to explore new research pathways.
IMPACT-TO-INDUSTRY TRACK
We also welcome contributions from practitioners and researchers in the same areas as the main conference. Industry practitioners can consider sharing experiences of assessing current practice, adopting and evaluating new technologies, and gathering local or contextual evidence. Researchers can submit findings from research conducted in industrial settings, especially those discussing demonstrable or strong potential for impact. Papers co-written by practitioners and researchers, including experience reports, research studies, reviews, and meta-discussions on bridging the industry-research divide are also welcome.
JOURNAL SPECIAL ISSUE
Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended versions of their work to a special issue in a journal (to be confirmed soon). Authors will be expected to comply with the standard guidelines when publishing an extended version of a paper, including the addition of at least 30% new material.
IMPORTANT DATES
- Full papers abstract (mandatory): 21 January 2018
- Full papers submission: 28 January 2018
- Short papers and Impact-to-industry papers: 18 March 2018
- Emerging Researchers' Forum papers: 25 March 2018
All submissions close at 23:59 AoE (UTC-12)
