We are hosting a mid-career workshop at AMCIS in New Orleans.  We'd love for you to join us.  Registration information is below.

Description
Congratulations, you have achieved the rank of associate professor and the opportunity to create your destiny in academia.  The purpose of this workshop is to help you set long-term career goals and to think about how you can best serve your institution and society.  We have selected a panel of well-respected faculty to help you evaluate what path to take your career.  What type of role would you like to assume:  research, editorial roles, leadership or administrative.  These are all possibilities.  This workshop will help you set meaningful personal goals, create your own opportunities, and learn to thrive no matter what the climate
We invite any faculty member that has received tenure and/or promotion to Associate Professor to attend this workshop.  Individuals at all stages of associate professor may find this workshop useful, from newly tenured faculty members to those that have settled into their role as an associate professor.  Those that have attended other mid-career workshops are welcome to come, participate, share, and learn from other associate professors.
Logistics
This workshop will take place on August 16, 8:30am - 2:00pm, prior to the start of AMCIS 2018.  As soon as we know the location we will update the website. We expect that you'll make some new friends at the workshop and we can all experience New Orleans. Registration Information
To allow for maximum participation among the participants, there is a limit of 40 participants.  If you would like to attend, simply select this workshop when you register for AMCIS 2018. To maintain our low registration cost of $25, breakfast is on your own.  We'd like you to join us at a local restaurant for lunch.  You are responsible for your meal cost.

Interactive Panel Session:  Career Paths for Associate Professors
We will hear the pros and cons of pursuing different career paths such as a research professor, center chair, department head and associate dean.

  *   Ramesh Sharda:  Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Programs, Oklahoma State University

Breakout Session 1 - Identifying Career Goals and Strategies
This is a time of rapid change for higher education, research, and individual universities.  Many of the traditional approaches to post-tenure careers may not hold over time.  When considering "life after tenure" and defining individual career goals, what are some of the potential changes to consider going forward.  The intent of this panel is to engage in a discussion about the challenges and opportunities that Associate Professors face as they develop their individual career plans.

Now we will work individually to identify specific goals and share those with another member of the consortium.
