Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Information Systems


The Department of Management at Clemson University invites applications for two tenure track Assistant Professor positions in Information Systems to begin in Fall 2019. We are seeking candidates who are committed to publishing high quality research in top journals that will impact the field, who can interact and work effectively with peers across the Department, and teach Information Systems courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs.  The candidate should have excellent communication skills and be able to teach at a level consistent with Clemson's high standards. Salary and benefits are competitive.
Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. (or anticipate completing all requirements for the doctorate by August 15, 2019) in a closely related field.  Individuals should be willing to teach core Information Systems and/or Data Science and Analytics related courses. Candidates should have begun to establish a record of excellence in research evidenced by research published and/or targeted at top journals. Candidates should demonstrate a background and/or interest in technical information systems and/or business analytics. A research expertise in econometrics with an interest in research at the organizational, platform, market or industry levels is preferred.  Preference will be given to those applicants whose research enhances and extends those of the existing faculty and leverages the benefits of being in a large interdisciplinary department. Current topics of interest include: social media analytics, IT strategy, software and platform businesses, IT enabled supply chains, IT security, computer-aided decision support and recommendation systems, among others.


The Department of Management is an academic unit within the College of Business. The Department has over 35 faculty members and offers a Bachelor of Science degree in management with seven areas of emphasis, a Master of Science degree in management, and a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Information Systems, Operations and Supply Chain management, and Strategy / Entrepreneurship / Organization Behavior.

Over recent years, the Information Systems group has consistently been ranked highly based on productivity in top Information Systems journals like MISQ, ISR, JMIS, JAIS, etc. and individual faculty have consistently been ranked as top researchers (e.g., Top 100 researchers based on publications in the elite "Basket of 6" information system journal set). The Information Systems group actively encourages participation in the research community, holding senior editorial positions at top-tier disciplinary journals; participating in academic conferences; giving keynote speeches and holding leadership roles in professional societies.
