Instructor/Associate Director of Graduate Programs, Information Systems
Description: The Sam M. Walton College of Business seeksapplications from interested candidates to fill the position of Instructor/Associate Director of Information Systems Graduate Programs to begin July 2019. Salary will becommensurate with qualifications and experience; benefits are competitive. This position will serve as Associate Director,Information Systems Graduate Programs and teach four or five,three‐hour courses per academic year within InformationSystems (Business Analytics, ERP, and/or Database classespreferred, with a mix of face-to-face and online courses, as needed). The position reports to the Information SystemsDirector of Graduate Programs and will be responsible for theongoing development and maintenance of graduate programs/classes offered by the Department of InformationSystems. This person should be interested in working with a team-centered-approach environment; and, will be responsiblefor recruiting graduate students and advising graduate students,coordinating advertising and marketing activities/materials forgraduate programs, and leading initiatives related to program‐level design, assessment, alignment, and student outcomes. This person will work in coordination with the GraduateSchool of Business and Walton Career Center to establish andmaintain relationships with organizations seeking information technology, analytics, and blockchain skills (for purposes ofboth recruiting and placement). In coordination with theDirector of Information Systems Graduate programs, thisperson will also support other program initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed a Master’s degree in Information Systems, business analytics, or a closely related field, prior to the position start date, from a nationally or internationally accredited university. Candidates must also have demonstrated excellence in teaching courses in information systems, analytics, or related area.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with professional experience in information systems or related field (to include marketing experience and leadership experience) as well as the ability to work with graduate students;documented excellence in teaching graduate level courses; documented experience in both face-to-face and blended/online course delivery; documented experience and expertise in teaching courses focused on database/data warehouse/”bigdata”, analytics, and enterprise resource planning.
The Information Systems Department: The department has thirteen tenured or tenure-track faculty members, including fiveprofessors who hold positions with endowments, in addition to three clinical faculty members, and several instructors. The department has been consistently ranked in the top-5 among business schools for publication activity in Information Systems Research and MIS Quarterly. Faculty research interests include:IT personnel; privacy, security, and ethics; IT training and education; e-commerce; IS strategy and IT investments; social networks; enterprise systems; big data and analytics; software development, decision making and decision aids; mobility; and technology adoption.
The Information Systems Department has an active research-oriented Ph.D. program, a Master of Information Systems program, and a BSBA major in Information Systems. The department recently created a a Blockchain Center of Excellence, and has a world-class Enterprise Systems Program that provides our students experience with industrial-strength technology systems, thanks to more than $100 Million in gifts from our technology platform partners- IBM, Microsoft, SAP and Teradata. Enterprise Systems also hosts a number ofdatabases including Acxiom, Dillard’s, Nielsen, Tyson Foods and Sam’s Club and receives support from prominent companies such as J. B. Hunt, Tyson Foods and Walmart.
The Sam M. Walton College of Business: The Sam M. Walton College of Business has more than 6,000 students. The Walton College has an innovative cross-functional business core program that focuses on business processes, and several new cross-disciplinary minors and concentrations. The University of Arkansas has a total enrollment of more than 27,000 students. Following a successful recent $1 billion capital campaign, the university is in the process to launching another such campaign.The Walton College has consistently been ranked among the nation’s top 25 public undergraduate business schools since 2005, according to U.S. News and World Report.
Location: The University of Arkansas is located in Fayetteville, in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas.
