Dear colleagues,

Volume 29, Issue 2 of Electronic Markets has now been published. It includes
ten articles with nine coming from two special issues and one from the
general research section. As introduced in the issue’s editorial with the
title “Electronic Markets on platform competition”
(https://doi.org/10.1007/s12525-019-00353-y)the two special issues combine
the topics of platforms in emerging markets and of recommender systems. The
general research article contributes a novel typology on electronic
platforms (https://doi.org/10.1007/s12525-018-0319-0). The four papers of
the special issue on “Electronic Markets in emerging markets”
(https://doi.org/10.1007/s12525-019-00343-0 ) and the five papers of the
special issue on “Smart e-commerce integration with recommender systems”
(https://doi.org/10.1007/s12525-019-00346-x) are all introduced by the guest
editors in their prefaces. The editorial also includes the announcement of
the annual Electronic Markets awards of the best four outstanding reviewers
and the two winning papers for the year 2018.
