Morning colleagues

I had a student in my office that wants to do a D using the I, me , mine
(?) "research approach".  In other words he describe the D from his own
perspective.

the problems we have is:

How valid can the statements he do be from his own domain?
Can this be empirically verified\?
What would be a good "other" approach be to follow for him that might be
more acceptable as we do not have many experts in this field?
