Towson University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track
positions at the Assistant Professor level, with an expected start date of
August 2020.
Highly-qualified applicants in all areas of Computer Sciences will be
considered. Candidates with an expertise in one of the following areas are
preferred:
1. *Data Sciences* – The Department of Computer and Information
Sciences is looking to expand its expertise in the area of data sciences.
With existing undergraduate and graduate courses in data science and
ongoing research in utilizing data science in cybersecurity, software
engineering and geographic information systems; a successful candidate will
have expertise in teaching and research in one or more of the following
areas: data analytics/visualization, big data, machine learning, and
data/text mining. Particular interest will be given to those who complement
one of the department’s current strengths.
2. *Distributed Systems *– The Department of Computer and Information
Sciences is looking to expand its expertise in the area of operating
systems / distributed systems. With long-standing research efforts in bare
machine computing and undergraduate and graduate courses in operating
systems and operating systems security, a successful candidate will have
expertise in teaching and research in one or more of the following areas:
operating systems, operating systems security, parallel and distributed
computing, high-performance computing, cloud engineering, mobile computing
and/or SCADA systems.
A Ph.D., or comparable terminal degree in Computer Science, Information
Systems, Information Technology or a related field. The selected candidate
is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop strong
research programs, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, apply for
external funding, and participate in department activities.

graduate transcripts, research, teaching, and diversity statements, a

The review of completed applications will begin *January 2, 2020* and
continue until the position is filled.
The Department offers six primary programs including: an ABET-accredited
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, and an ABET-accredited
cybersecurity program, a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems,
a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, a Master of Science
degree in Computer Science, a Master of Science in Applied Information
Technology, and a Doctor of Science degree in Information Technology. The
Department of Computer and Information Sciences has approximately 43
full-time faculty members, 7 staff members, collectively over 1,700
undergraduate majors in the Computer Science, Information Systems, and
Information Technology programs, and approximately 400 graduate students.
