The School of Economics and Business of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU, Lithuania) is opening a Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow positions to join the team of the ERA Chair Project “Industry 4.0 impact on management practices and economics” (IN4ACT) (http://bit.ly/IN4ACT-Team-Hiring).
The objective of the IN4ACT project is to implement structural changes at the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) School of Economics and Business through research to be undertaken under the ERA Chair in “Industry 4.0 Management and Economics”, in order to increase research excellence, socio-economic impact, international reputation, and attractiveness to international talented researchers and students.
The ERA Chair seeks to recruit a team of 5 Research Fellows from various research and scientific fields closely related to the subject of Industry 4.0 on a full-time or part-time basis.
~*~ Desired skills and experience ~*~
The candidates are expected to be proficient in at least one area of the following research interest groups:
#1 Research interest group: Technology management
* Data science, big data, algorithmic modelling
* Artificial Intelligence and learning machines
* Decision-making support systems
* Investment trends in technology development/acquisition
#2 Research interest group: Business model economics
* Business process modelling (BPM)
* Robotic process automatisation business models (RPA)
* Network and ecosystem economics
* Cutting-edge design of business models
* Predictive analytics/maintenance
* Human resources and skills development
#3 Research interest group: Economic geography and regional economics
* Smart cities, regional economic and innovation ecosystems
* Smart specialisation
* Open innovation
* Comparative regional advantages and strategic promotion of regions in GVCs
#4 Research interest group: Policy, regulation and sustainability
* Design and implementation of policy and regulatory frameworks (ideally from a political economy angle)
* Standardisation across digital systems
* Legal specialisation, specifically IPRs, patents, privacy (e.g., GDPR), compliance
* Social sustainability and inclusive development
* Circular economy
* Environmental sustainability and environmental engineering (KPI’s, UN)
#5 Research interest group: Methodologies of assessment of comparative industry 4.0 performance
* Methodologies of assessment of comparative Industry 4.0 performance
* Design of methods and programs of Industry 4.0 skills development
* Labour economics
* Education program and skillset development design specialists
* Industry 4.0 key performance indicators (KPI’s) and metrics
We are looking for three types of specific profiles that should comply with general and specific requirements:
# Specific requirements for academic publishing profile:
* Applicants should have a strong publishing track record and pipeline, including articles in the top academic journals (Q1, Q2).
* Have at least 5 years’ experience of data design and data collection.
* Have strong data processing and analyzing skills.
# Specific requirements for raising competitive funding (e.g. Horizon Europe) profile:
* Experience in design of research and technology development (RTD) project proposals.
* A proven track record of raising public research funding. Experience in networking and team building.
# Specific requirements for setting collaborative research (e.g. with business and public sector) profile:
* A proven track record of raising private research funding.
* Experience in developing collaborative business networks.
* Experience in business is an advantage.
General requirements of skills and experience
* Doctoral degree in economics, business management, technology management, public policy, law, international political economy or other related domains;
* Recognized expertise and demonstrated experience in research related to the impact of industry 4.0 on economics and management;
* High proficiency in research design, planning, management and execution;
* A proven track record of raising private or public research funding through the preparation of RTD proposals (e.g., European Union Framework Programs, among others);
* Teaching experience at post-graduate and doctoral levels;
* Proficiency in English. Other languages would constitute an advantage.
~*~ Job description ~*~
The ERA Chair research team will be comprised of a group of Researchers with backgrounds and current specialisations in economics, business management, technology management, public policy, law, international political economy, and energy/environmental sciences, among others. In all these positions, the work is mainly composed of research-related activities including conducting empirical research, writing and publishing articles (in top venues of the given domain), acquiring (or assisting in acquiring) research funding, co-organizing seminars, meeting with key stakeholders (academia, firms, government), participating in industrial and academic conferences and conventions related to the core research areas IN4ACT engages.
As part of the team, you will hold a Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow position at the KTU School of Economics and Business and pro-actively contribute to the achievement of the IN4ACT project objectives. The required competencies of the team members are organized into ‘research interest groups’ which are composed of diverse scientific and research expertise, i.e., they are interdisciplinary, and they often cross the micro, meso, and macro levels. Research, analysis, and evaluation of this multi-level structure of operative factors driving (or impeding) Industry 4.0 involve complex concentrations of interdisciplinary skills that rarely coexist in a single individual researcher. As a result, the required ERA Chair team member positions involve ‘interdisciplinary research interest groups’. These can be considered as clusters of competencies that might involve several individual researchers whose skills are to be engaged and deployed concurrently or sequentially according to specific needs and requirements that emerge in the evolution and maturation of the project.
Applicants are invited to indicate which group(s) are most suitable/relevant for their background and research expertise. In case more than one research group or specific domain provide a suitable ‘fit’ applicants should the applicants should indicate accordingly. The main goal, however, is that these activities are synergistically linked and developed with the research of the applicant and the objectives of the IN4ACT project.
