CALL FOR PAPERS

ISLA 2020

Virtually there!

Planet Earth

AUGUST, 10-14

An ancillary event at AMCIS 2020

The Latin American and Caribbean chapter of the Association for Information
Systems (LACAIS) invites the submission of full completed research, and
research-in-progress papers to the 4th Information Systems in Latin America
Conference (ISLA 2020), which will be held August 10-14, 2020 in an online
format, as an ancillary event of the Americas Conference on Information
Systems (AMCIS 2020). Papers may be submitted in any of the official
languages for ISLA 2020: English, Spanish or Portuguese. For papers in
Spanish and Portuguese, abstracts must be also in English.

The conference aims to discuss Information Systems’ role in society and,
more specifically, the ways the discipline has evolved over the years, with
special attention to the idiosyncrasies of IS research and practical
application in Latin America. Authors are encouraged to submit papers that
contribute to the development of IS as a field of study and practice.
Particularities of the region should be taken into account whenever they may
lead to different approaches or different results to those the field has
experienced elsewhere.

We are also encouraging undergraduate and master's students to submit short
5-min videos about their research, so that they can be presented in a
session, and obtain feedback from a faculty panel.

Accepted full and research-in-progress papers will be published in the ISLA
2020 proceedings, which will be uploaded to the Association for Information
Systems e-library.

The best papers will be selected and invited to extend their work to a
journal format and be considered for a special issue of the Latin American
and Caribbean Journal of the AIS (RELCASI).

Accepted research presentation videos will be included in LACAISTube, the
YouTube channel of the LACAIS Chapter.

*Registering for the ISLA conference has no cost, and it should be done
through AMCIS registration. AMCIS will have no cost for residents in
countries whose Human Development Index is categorized as low, medium, or
high, as long as they are current members of the AIS. Membership fees will
be waived for undergraduate and master’s students who have papers or videos
accepted for presentation in the ISLA Conference.

Submission Types

Full papers must describe completed research. Completed research papers will
be submitted via the submission system, and they will be peer-reviewed using
a double blind system and presented in a session format. Each session will
consist of three or four competitive papers accepted through the review
process. Sessions will include 10-min video presentations, followed by a
live Q&A and discussion time. Full papers must not exceed 10 pages (approx.
5,000 words) and must conform to the ISLA 2020 submission template. Full
papers that are accepted will be published in their entirety in the
conference proceedings, included in the AIS e-Library.

Research-in-progress papers will be submitted to double blind review. Upon
acceptance, RIP papers will be presented by authors in short 10 min videos,
followed by a discussion. All RIP papers will be judged on the merit of the
research idea. RIP papers must not exceed 5 pages (approx. 2,500 words) and
must conform to the ISLA 2020 submission template. These papers will also
appear in the proceedings, included in the AIS e-Library.

"Your research in a video" provides opportunities for IS undergraduate and
master's student to present their research ideas and projects and obtain
valuable feedback from a faculty panel. All videos must be submitted via the
video submission system, after filling out the corresponding form. Videos
should be limited to five minutes in duration and should include your
objective or research question, an assessment of relevance, the proposed
method, and expected results. Videos will be stored in the LACAISTube
channel.

All paper submissions must be made via the ISLA 2020 EasyChair submission
system. After creating an account and logging on to the EasyChair site, the
author(s) should follow the instructions for submission, specifying the type
of paper being sent for review. To access the paper submission template,

Journal Publication Opportunity

The AIS Policy on Conference and Journal Publication encourages conference
papers to be published in journals. This policy applies to AIS conferences
(there are no copyright issues to prevent your AIS conference paper from
being published in any journal (AIS or not)), and to AIS journals (there are
no restrictions preventing you from submitting your conference paper to an
AIS journal). Many non-AIS journals have similar policies, so you can submit
your AIS conference paper to them. The policy and list of non-AIS journals
with similar policies, is available at the Policy page
