[AISWorld] Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Research Assistant Professor Positions at the Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen

[Hu Daning]

One research assistant professor (RAP) position and two postdoctoral
research fellow positions in the areas of Business Analytics and Fintech
are available in the Southern University of Science and Technology,
Shenzhen, China, starting from September 2020.



The Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is designed to prepare the candidates
for a future career in academia. The postdoctoral position is for two years
and renewable to another one year. The Research Assistant Professor
position is for three years and renewable to another three years.



Interested applicants should have a strong background in the area of data
mining, econometrics and empirical research methods.



Successful applicants are expected to work in the Business Analytics and
Intelligence Lab led by Prof. Dr. Daning Hu (https://sustchud.github.io/).
The RAP and postdoctoral applicants are expected to develop research ideas
independently and take lead in research project groups consisting of PhD
students, master and undergraduate students. Currently the lab has two
postdoc fellows and four PhD students who are in the SUSTech joint-PhD
programs in information systems with HKUST, HKU and CityU HK, as well as 10
master and undergraduate students. The applicants are also expected to work
closely with collaborating professors and research groups at SUSTech and
other collaborating universities like ETH Zurich, HKUST, HKU, CityU HK and
Zhejiang University, etc.



The annual salary of Post-Doctoral Fellow ranges from 340,000 to 430,000
CNY (including 180,000 CNY governmental subsidy (before tax)), commensurate
with qualifications and experiences. The annual salary for Research
Assistant Professor ranges from 350,000 RMB to 500,000 RMB.



There are additional allowances provided by Shenzhen or Guangdong
governments for qualified applicants, such as the 1.6 million RMB
(tax-free) award for those qualified for the Shenzhen Peacock Plan (The
qualification of the Peacock plan may be subject to change in 2021). Other
benefits include travel grants, housing allowance, etc.



Basic Qualifications:

-       A Ph.D. degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics,
Management, or other related areas.

-       A team player and preferably a leader who has strong motivations to
learn new things and good time management skills.

-       Strong research capabilities in data mining/machine learning,
econometrics, network analysis, or other empirical research methods.
