International Conference on Circular Economy: 14 - 15 December 2020
Organised by the School of Management, University of Bradford, UK and Indian Institute of Management, Jammu, India
We would like to welcome you to attend virtually and participate at our Circular Economy Conference 2020, which takes place on 14th and 15th December 2020 (9am - 2pm UK GMT across both days). The conference focuses on what can be described as one of the most important themes in current times i.e. Circular Economy and Responsible Management.
Background
It is estimated that global annual waste generation is expected to rise to 3.4 billion tonnes, over the next 30 years, which is a staggering 70 percent increase by 2050 if, responsible management for Circularity and Sustainability is not taken seriously. So, what does this practically mean, for you? Are issues of Responsible Management and Circular Economy (CE) only for managers and policymakers, or do we also have a responsibility as consumers? For instance, do we reflect on what happens to our fabrics, electronics, plastics, after we no longer require them? Are they recirculated back into the system, or do they form part of a "throwaway society", which in addition to having a deadly impact on the environment, is also very costly and inefficient?
The conference will allow you to understand ongoing innovations, waste management approaches and responsible management techniques, which are being utilised to help address these challenges. CE is often conflated with terms such as sustainability or recycling. CE is much more than that and is underpinned by embracing practices such as 'Reuse, Redesign, Regenerate Recycle, Reduce', which you will know more about during our conference.
With this in mind, our conference provides a much needed platform that brings together leading industry experts and researchers in the field, to engage in discussions relating to a range of issues including CE and Responsible Management. Our international keynote speakers include:
