The College of Information Science & Technology (IS&T) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. The expected start date is Fall 2021. The positions are within the Department of Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis (ISQA) and are open to all research areas. Candidates must possess an appropriate doctorate or ABD in Information Systems, or related disciplines including Information Technology, Information Science, Information and Communication Technology for Development, Human Centered Computing, Human Computer Interaction, or Information Management, from a nationally recognized program. A strong candidate will be a highly qualified teacher and researcher in the complex information environments that characterize today’s organizations and societies.

The ISQA Department is involved in innovative and recognized teaching, mentorship, and community engagement at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. The program offers concentrations and certificates in multiple areas including data management and analytics, project management, information assurance, and systems development. Our global partnerships enhance these programs through joint degrees, as well as student and faculty exchanges.
Additionally, the ISQA Department conducts internationally recognized research funded through the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Education, Small Business Administration, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Ford Foundation, Mozilla, and local and global business partners. We have faculty engaged in research including open community research, technologies for social good, information technology for development, information quality, data analytics, IS strategy, and pedagogy for online education. The College employs two full-time grant-writing staff to support faculty.

The School of Interdisciplinary Informatics, in the College of Information Science and Technology (IS&T), seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Information Technology Innovation (ITIN) at the rank of Assistant/Associate. The anticipated start date of August 23, 2021. The position will play an important role in advancing the School’s commitment to preparing students for careers in Information Technology (IT) Innovation. IT Innovation is the interdisciplinary practice of conceptualizing, designing, prototyping, and fielding an IT-based product or service. It focuses both on the technological and entrepreneurial aspects of IT products. IT Innovation brings together aspects of Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Visual Design and Engineering with other disciplines that inform IT design and application. At the time of hire, candidates should have earned a doctorate in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
The ideal candidate will have a desire to teach unique undergraduate and graduate courses in an innovative, interdisciplinary college focused on serving a vibrant metropolitan area. New hires are expected to establish and maintain an extramurally-funded research program and productive collaborations with business and community partners. Other duties may include mentoring graduate students, engaging in service learning, and providing school, university, and professional service.
Faculty in the IT Innovation program currently research virtual/augmented reality, design and creativity, human-machine collaboration, product development, music informatics, human centered computing, and Service Science Management and Engineering. Applicants whose research interests complement these areas are encouraged to apply.
For those applying for the rank of Associate, there must be a track record of extramural funding and scholarly articles in their relevant disciplines. For those applying for the rank of Assistant, evidence of potential for developing a robust research program should be demonstrated.
