The post is funded by the Agile Business Consortium and the University of Central Lancashire. The work will involve collaborating closely with funders and practitioners to undertake literature reviews and empirical research exploring areas of interest in agile theory and practice. In addition, the post-holder will be supported to enhance their skills and develop their academic career.
The Agile Research Network (ARN) is a collaboration between researchers at two UK universities at the forefront of investigating Agile methodologies, the University of Central Lancashire and The Open University. As Agile methodologies for software development mature and become mainstream it is important to understand what implications and influences they have on organisations and individuals, and to assess the scope and nature of their effectiveness. ARN seeks to work closely with practitioners in their place of work to gain such insights and to disseminate theoretical and practical findings to a wide audience.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate with a proven track record and potential to conduct research at the highest international level. Educated to PhD level, or near completion, in a relevant subject, the successful candidate will have strong knowledge of agile software development and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues. Utilising strong organisation skills, the successful candidate will be able to work to targets and deadlines whilst also undertaking independent research and producing excellent academic writing.
The successful candidate will have experience of working or researching industrial settings and have a record of academic peer received publications in leading conferences and/or journals. Experience of utilising qualitative and quantitative methodologies and a range of different research methods is essential.
