New Zealand Visiting Fellowship for 2021, University of Canterbury
(Expressions of interest by February 26, 2021)
** Open only to persons within New Zealand **
The Information Systems group at the University of Canterbury is seeking a visitor (as an Erskine fellow), for the 2021 academic year preferably for a full semester (shorter stays of 6-10 weeks may also be considered). In 2021, the main semester dates are: Semester I (22 February - 28 May, including a 3-week break) and Semester II (19 July-22 October, including a 2-week break). Our conversion master's program (MBIS) runs on an alternative schedule with key dates remaining for 2021 of 17 May - 01 August (Term 2), and 30 August - 14 November (Term 3).
(Note: The Erskine Fellowship Programme has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, resulting in the cancellation of incoming 2021 fellowships for overseas academics. For 2021, due to border closures an exception has been made to allow Visiting Erskine Fellowships to be awarded to persons from within New Zealand. Persons who are eligible to be in New Zealand and who will be here during 2021 may also submit an expression of interest)
The successful nominee would be invited as an Erskine Fellow to the UC Business School. Please note that all Erskine Programme Fellowships are primarily teaching Fellowships, and will include undergraduate teaching where possible. The visitor will be expected to make a contribution to teaching and to research in the IS group. This may take various forms, for example, teaching in graduate/undergraduate courses, graduate seminars, as well as seminar presentations, research workshops, and research collaboration with staff. There may also be an opportunity for the successful Erskine fellow to offer a short course, graduate seminar or workshop tailored to one's interests and expertise.
To be eligible for the 2021 Erskine Fellowship, interested persons must be from within New Zealand, hold the position of full professor or associate professor (or equivalent), and be able to demonstrate a significant amount of international experience and/or reputation and impact. This will be shown by the nominee having taught at or being able to demonstrate research collaborations with overseas universities or having articles published in journals of strong international standing.
The Erskine fellowship provides accommodation, a daily allowance and return airfares. Return airfares may also be available for a spouse or partner (conditions apply). For more information about the Erskine program see http://www.canterbury.ac.nz/erskine/
Previous Erskine Fellows include: A/Prof Allen Johnston (2019), Prof Rick Watson (University of Georgia, 2018), Prof Nir Kshetri (University of North Carolina, Greensboro, 2018), Prof David Schwartz (Bar Ilan University, Israel, 2016), Prof Sue Conger (University of Dallas, 2014, 2015, 2017), Prof Wynne Chin (University of Houston, 2013, 2006), Prof Sung Kim (University of Wisconsin-Madison, 2013), Prof Joey George (University of Iowa, 2012, 2008), Prof Niels Bjorn-Andersen (Copenhagen Business School, 2011), Prof France Belanger (Virginia Tech, 2009), Prof Laurie Kirsch (University of Pittsburg, 2007), Prof Carol Saunders (University of Central Florida, 2007), and Prof Rajiv Kohli (College of William & Mary, 2007).
