Dear AIS Community,

It is my pleasure to present the 23(2)nd issue of the Journal of IT Case and Application Research (JITCAR). The contents of this issue are an Editorial Preface article by Dr. Sumantra Sarkar; a Research Case article coauthored by Drs. Sagit Kedem-Yemini, and Adi Katz; Teaching Case article authored by Dr. Reema Khurana; Expert Opinion report by Dr. Mahesh Raisinghani; and Book Review by Dr. Bryan Hosack. The articles can be accessed by visiting the following URL: https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/utca20/current. Summary information on these items is as follows.

In the editorial preface article titled, "Using qualitative approaches in the era of big data: A confessional tale of a behavioral researcher," Dr. Sarkar highlights the importance of qualitative research approaches in the age of big data. Dr. Sumantra argues that qualitative approaches will still be as important as they have been in the past, if not more. Dr. Sarkar makes a case that how big data tools have facilitated and enhanced our access to easier and less expensive means of collecting and analyzing enormous amounts of qualitative data even faster.

The first research article is titled, "Implementing online-testing - Cases in higher education in Israel." The article examines how during the pandemic COVID-19, the Universities in Israel needed to implement and conduct online exams on a large scale. The paper critically analyzes the factors that characterized these online exams while offering a helpful and simple guide to educators, including ten easily applied recommendations on improving the administration of online exams.

A second article is a teaching case titled, "Jio Fiber: Disrupting the digital market in India," The case specifically focuses on the strategy of Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries in India, as it became the ace player in the Indian telecom market. The case discusses Jio's growth with reference to the competitive and regulatory landscape in India. The teaching case provides comprehensive teaching notes that highlight the company's strategic plan analyzed through the lens of Porter's five forces model.

The Expert Opinion report narrates an interview with Andrew Davis and Samantha Garbutt. Andrew is a Co-Founder and CEO, while Samantha Garbutt is a Chief Commercial Officer of 3 Dot Digital, Brisbane, Australia. 3 Dot Digital helps clients translate their data to generate monetizable insights and recognize cost-efficiencies. The interview seeks to understand how enterprise organizations can turn data into business value. Andrew and Samantha also provide guidance on how enterprise leaders can manage the regulatory (e.g., Privacy) requirements of data they collect, store, and analyze.

The book review report by Dr. Bryan Hosack provides a critical analysis of the World IT Project authored by Prashant Palvia, Jaideep Ghosh, Tim Jacks, Alexander Serenko, and Aykut Hamit Turan. The book was published in 2020 by World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd., and now publishers Inc. Dr. Hosack in his review, highlights the importance and the critical relevance of the work done by Prashant and his coauthors. According to Bryan, the book provides an overview of Information Technology (IT) across 37 countries and describes three themes in IT, focusing on the organization level, technology, architecture, and the individual IT worker. Bryan suggests that the book presents the research developed and cultivated over a decade and argues that it is undoubtedly one of the largest, if not the most extensive, studies of its kind. The work provides insight into a broad cross-section of the increasingly overlapping and intersecting IT field.

The Journal of Information Technology Case and Application Research (JITCAR) publishes case-based research on the application of information technology and information systems to the solution of organizational problems. Research articles may focus on public, private, or governmental organizations of any size, from start-up through multinational. JITCAR seeks case examples from countries of all types - advanced, newly industrialized, developing, or under-developed. The research can focus on any type of application, issue, problem or technology, including, for example, artificial intelligence, business process reengineering, cross-cultural issues, cybernetics, decision support systems, electronic commerce, enterprise systems, groupware, the human side of IT, information architecture, joint application development, knowledge-based systems, local area networks, management information systems, office automation, outsourcing, prototyping, robotics, security, social networking, software as a service, supply chain management, systems analysis, telemedicine, ubiquitous computing, video-conferencing, and Web 2.0/3.0 among others.

I hope you will enjoy reading all the items in this issue.

With best regards,

Sincerely
