====== Scope ======
Dependability Modeling and Design refers to the real interaction between business and dependability ability technology based on the support and capabilities provided by information technology. Dependability Modeling and Design consists of three modules: conceptual model for dependability, digitalization design for dependability, and software dependability. The digitalization design for dependability is divided in to knowledge formalization, activity automation, and data-driven evolution.
Conceptual Model for Dependability:With the development of science and technology, the composition of the system becomes more and more complex, resulting in more and more prominent problems of system dependability. In addition, with the continuous evolution from closed system to autonomous system, the conceptual model of dependability based on closed systems is no longer applicable for autonomous systems. How to construct a new conceptual model for dependability based on the human factors, specifications, implementations, environments, and requirements becomes a very challenging problem.
Dependability Ontology and Meta-model:The concept of ontology originates from philosophy and is used to express the origin of the world and the nature of being. Dependability ontology is a standardized description of dependability conceptualization. Standardized description represents taking a formal, machine-readable form of expression. Dependability meta-models define specifications that describe dependability-related models, that is, the elements that make up each dependability model and the relationships between the elements. Meta-model makes knowledge general and reusable.
Digitalization Design for Dependability:System dependability engineering is key technique to deal with system failures during the whole life of the system. With the increasing complexity of the system, the construction for the dependability capability of the system development also becomes challenging. We expect dependability digital engineering system which can establish modeled and automated dependability analysis for the concept phase, planning phase, development phase, and verification phase,resulting in an interpretable, inheritable, and reusable dependability process technology.
Software Dependability:The scale of the software system becomes larger and more complex, and its dependability is becoming much more difficult to guarantee. The applications of software also have high requirements for the dependability of system operation. In some key application fields, such as digital wisdom medicine, precision manufacturing and so on, the dependability requirements are very high (at least 99.9999%). We expect to establish industry available software dependability metrics system, evaluation model, design, and verification methods.

====== Venue ======
The First Workshop on Dependability Modeling and Design Workshop WDMD will be held in conjunction
with the 32nd edition of the ISSRE Conference that will be held in Wuhan, China,
Oct 25 - 28, 2021. Also this year both the WDMD Workshop and the ISSRE
Conference will adopt a hybrid model allowing either in-person or online remote
presentations.
Information regarding how to follow the events will be provided in the next
future.
====== Regular Papers and Abstract ======
Papers submitted for evaluation must be original, unpublished, and not submitted
for publication elsewhere.
Any submission of a contribution implies that, if accepted for presentation, at
least one of its proponents must register (paying the requested fee) and attend
the conference for giving the presentation.
===== Submissions =====
The goal of the WDMD is to bring together researchers and practitioners working on the conceptual model for dependability, the digitalization design for dependability, and the software dependability. While the event is scheduled to take place in person we also welcome proposals for remote presentations.
