Since 1969, DATA BASE has had a significant impact on the IS discipline as an outlet for high quality research. This journal is published by the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM). In 2020, DATA BASE received 89 submissions from 25 different countries across the globe, and 42 editorial board members utilized 122 different reviewers to assist with the editorial process.
The members of the search committee are:

* Deb Armstrong (djarmstrong at business.fsu.edu<mailto:djarmstrong at business.fsu.edu>), chair

*       Tom Ferratt (tferratt1 at udayton.edu<mailto:tferratt1 at udayton.edu>)

* Cindy Riemenschneider (c_riemenschneider at baylor.edu<mailto:c_riemenschneider at baylor.edu>), ex officio

* Tom Stafford (stafford at latech.edu<mailto:stafford at latech.edu>)
The search committee seeks applications and nominations for the editorship. Both individual and team (co-EIC) candidacies are equally eligible for consideration. Among other duties, the editor or editors will be expected to:

  * Continue to build DATA BASE's current stature within the field
  * Ensure that DATA BASE be open to submissions that can forge innovation by publishing unique and distinct types of work
  * Be discerning, fair, and equitable in all aspects of the review process
  * Handle publication decisions in a manner that is reasonable, ethical, timely and open but preserving confidentiality
  * Attend key academic conferences to represent and promote the journal
  * Work with available resources to maintain journal operations and the editorial processes

Nominations and applications for the position of editor-in-chief of DATA BASE should be sent to the search committee chair.
A complete application for the DATA BASE editorship should consist of the following elements:

  1. Application Letter: The candidate or co-EICs should provide a letter indicating willingness to be considered for the position of DATA BASE editor(s) if selected. This application letter should discuss professional and scholarly experiences that make the candidate(s) well qualified for the position. It would be helpful to highlight any prior editorial experience.
  2. Vita: A complete CV should be provided by each candidate.
  3. Support Letter: The candidate or co-EICs should provide an institutional letter of support.
  4. Management Plan: The application should include a formal statement for the candidate(s) articulating plans for managing DATA BASE. Candidates should feel free to discuss any issues they believe to be relevant to the intellectual content and/or management of DATA BASE.
An effective management plan may address questions such as the following:

  * In what direction(s) do you wish to take DATA BASE?
  * How would you increase the visibility and impact of DATA BASE?
  * At the end of your tenure as editor-in-chief, what contributions would you like to have made?
Final proposals must be submitted to the search committee chair by October 1, 2021. We intend to select the new editor-in-chief(s) by November 15, 2021.
