Digitally Augmented Society: A New Normal after the Pandemic

2021 KMIS International Conference Call for Papers
12th November 2021, Swiss Grand Hotel, Seoul South Korea & Online

Conference Invitation
The Korea Society of Management Information Systems (KMIS) will hold the
2021 Fall Conference on November 12th (Friday) at Swiss Grand Hotel in
Seoul with the theme of ‘Digitally Augmented Society: A New Normal After
the Pandemic’.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a significant transformation using digital
technologies (Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and
virtual/augmented reality) is underway. In this process, fragmented
industries are integrated into one digital platform, and the existing
offline-oriented industries are gradually converging in the cyberspace
through digital technology. Ultimately, the emergence of the new value
creating platforms is transforming our society into a ‘Digitally Augmented
Society’.
A digitally augmented society refers to a digital technology-centered
society where the combination of various digital technologies such as the
Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and virtual/augmented reality
provides solutions to the limitations and issues of humans and societies.
The transition to a digitally augmented society will help individuals and
businesses overcome temporal and spatial restrictions caused by COVID-19,
maintain social relationships, and conduct business activities. Moreover,
digital technologies and platforms are expected to provide individuals with
various means of access to information, facilitate social integration among
members, and create new business opportunities for the companies.
However, the transition to this digitally augmented society may meet
challenges that we could not understand through traditional socio-technical
knowledge and theories. Examples of these challenges are individual
identity in a virtual world fusing with the real world, the formation of
new social relationships, and the creation of an innovative
value-generating ecosystem. Accordingly, the Korea society of Management
Information Systems (KMIS) creates a forum for researchers to share ideas
and findings with leading domestic and international researchers as well as
the industry and government policy enforcement agencies. For those who wish
to present at this conference in line with its theme, please refer to the
schedule below and submit abstract and presentation materials prior to the
due date. We ask for your active participation and support for this
conference. Thank you very much.
