PAPER-A-THON - CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
<https://aisnet.org/page/ICISPage>
International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS 2021)
<https://aisnet.org/page/ICISPage>
Application Deadline: October 1st, 2021
The goal of the ICIS Paper-a-thon is to facilitate new research
collaborations, help scholars develop their research ideas while making new
professional connections, and—for the most promising projects—accelerate a
publication review process.
In a paper-a-thon, researchers are organized into interest-related project
teams with the goal of developing a research idea “from scratch” under the
mentorship of prominent IS scholars in a very short timeframe. We encourage
participants to arrive with ideas about potential projects, yet we also ask
that you remain open-minded to project ideas that emerge through
collaboration with your project team and the mentor.
Paper-a-thon always concludes with each group pitching their research
projects to a panel of senior scholars / journal editors, who will select
several papers to be presented on the last day of ICIS. The finalist papers
will be published in the ICIS 2021 Paper-a-Thon section of the AIS Library.
Due to the uncertainties of the ongoing pandemic, the paper-a-thon will
take place both LIVE and VIRTUALLY this year. Thus, there will be TWO
GROUPS, providing greater flexibility for everyone to participate in the
event. The agendas are forthcoming and will include separate versions for
the live and virtual groups.
The LIVE paper-a-thon version will then take place in the form of two-day
intense working sessions (Saturday and Sunday, December 12-13, 2021) where
researchers are organized into interest-related project teams to
collaborate under the mentorship of prominent IS scholars. This initial
two-day workshop phase concludes with each group pitching their research
projects to a panel of journal editors, who will select up to two papers to
be presented on the last day of ICIS.
The VIRTUAL paper-a-thon version will be spread out across the week Monday
6th – Sunday 13th of December, 2021 to allow for more flexibility for
participants. Selected papers will be presented on the last day of ICIS.
APPLYING: If the event is appealing to you, you are highly encouraged to
apply. You should only apply to participate in the paper-a-thon if you can
commit to attending the event (either 2-days live or 3 mandatory
appointments virtually). At the time of applying, you will need to state
whether you will participate live onsite or virtually. Only state a
preference for LIVE onsite participation if you can commit to attending in
full and can foresee that you will get a visa for traveling to the U.S. The
application deadline is October 1, 2021, 11:59 PM EDT (New York time).
You will find all further information about the *application process* and
the *agenda of LIVE and VIRTUAL events* here:

We are looking forward to meeting your LIVE and VIRTUALLY at the
forthcoming ICIS Paper-a-thon!
