The University of Mannheim is an excellent academic institution with a proven track record in research and teaching with currently around 2,630 employees and about 12,000 students. To strengthen the Information Systems Area at the Business School, we would like to fill a W-1 Assistant Professorship for Electronic Business and Electronic Government (with tenure track W3) as soon as possible. The assistant professorship is located within the Business School in the Information Systems Area.
Your tasks:
• Internationally recognized cutting-edge research in the field of Information Systems, especially Electronic Business and Electronic Government.
• Openness to interdisciplinary research and willingness to regularly participate in the research seminar of the Information Systems Area.
• Teaching English-language courses in the field of information systems at all levels of education (B.Sc., M.Sc, doctorate), especially in the bachelor’s programs (B.Sc).
• Dedicated collaboration in university self-administration, closeness to students and enjoyment of teaching.
• Acquisition of third-party funds at the Institute for Enterprise Systems
Employment requirements include:
• a university degree
• a doctorate in information systems or related areas
• pedagogical aptitude
• the ability to develop research projects which, due to their high quality, can be published in leading information systems journals.
• International experience, internationally visible research and English-language teaching are desirable.
• Ability and experience in acquiring competitive third-party funding are an advantage.

According to Section 51 Paragraphs 2 and 3 of the State University Act of Baden-Württemberg (LHG), a university degree, pedagogical aptitude and aptitude for scientific work are required, which can be proven by a doctorate of outstanding quality.
Applicants who did their doctorate at the University of Mannheim should have changed university after completing their doctorate or should have worked academically for at least two years outside the University of Mannheim.
If the general requirements under service law are met, the position will initially contracted for a period of four years as part of a temporary civil service. In the event of a positive mid-term review in accordance with the statutory provisions (Section 51 (7) LHG), the employment will be extended to a total of six years.
If the final evaluation is positive, the appointment to the W3 professorship for Electronic Business and Electronic Government takes place without a renewed advertisement as part of a simplified appointment procedure.

Of particular importance here are outstanding achievements in research, special skills in academic teaching and participation in academic self-administration as well as involvement in the University community.
The teaching load initially comprises four semester hours per week and increases to six semester hours per week after a positive mid-term review.
The University of Mannheim attaches great importance to the intensive supervision of students and therefore expects a strong presence at the University from the lecturers. In order to strengthen the University's integration into the regional environment, it is also assumed that the person appointed is ready to move to the region.
