[AISWorld] Last extended deadline: Call for Book Chapter in Smart City Governance. Edward Elgar Publisher

Dear colleagues, 

Edward Elgar Publishing Company is currently running a "Handbook on Smart City Governance”. The content of this book is intended to contribute prior research facing the discussion about the future trend on governance into the Smart Cities focusing on the two main pillars of Smart Cities: Technology and People. It will provide theoretical and empirical underpinnings regarding the governance and functioning of the Smart Cities in the future.

The book will provide theoretical perspectives and practical experiences on smart governance for smart cities as well as studies regarding the new emerging technologies like Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), etc., and its use and/or impact on smart governance. It will present a balanced linkage between research, policies and practices on this area.

The book features contributions from researchers, academics, and practitioners in the field. Prospective authors are encouraged to submit proposals on one/some of the following topics, or suggest other potential topics: 

·       Theoretical frameworks to analyze Smart Governance.

·       New emerging technologies and its role in new governance models into Smart Cities.

·       Results and outcomes of new governance models implemented in smart cities.

·       Sensors as ubiquitous components of the urban governance.

·       Artificial intelligence for managing sustainable, secure and livable Smart Cities.

·       Smart citizens and their new roles in the governance of Smart Cities.

·       Reforming accountability and information governance models using Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Open Government, IoT and Blockchain technologies.

·       Reforming governments into Smart Governments with their new roles in the Smart Cities framework using emerging technologies.

·       The role of technological firms in improving smart governance in the urban areas.

·       Use of emerging technologies by firms and its impact on the smartness of the city (tourism sector, accommodation, private medical services, etc.).

·       The role of the Universities in improving the smart governance in the urban areas.

·       The role of firms in creating public value in Smart Cities.

We invite you to submit a book chapter on any of the previous mentioned topics. The issue is intended to highlight the work of leading scholars, policy makers, and practitioners involved, who are interested in the issue of smart city governance, locally and internationally. 

Please, send a book chapter proposal to my email (manuelp at ugr.es <mailto:manuelp at ugr.es>) by 15th November 2021. After acceptation of book chapter proposal, the submission deadline for full chapter is 31 December 2021. Submitted book chapters should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
