Online Informational Session ¨C Special Issue on ¡°Transcending the Qualitative-Quantitative Divide in IS Research Using QCA as a Configurational, Comparative Approach¡± @ Information Systems Journal (ISJ)

We would like to thank the information systems community for the interest expressed in the Special Issue on ¡°Transcending the Qualitative-Quantitative Divide in IS Research Using QCA as a Configurational, Comparative Approach¡± at the Information Systems Journal (ISJ) (see call for papers below). In light of the multiple inquiries received from prospective authors, we will hold an informational session for the special issue on Saturday [December 4th, 2021].

The purpose of the informational session is to give an overview of the targeted objectives to be achieved through the special issue and provide (non-exhaustive) guidelines on the types of papers that we hope to accept. Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions about the special issue.

Due to the disruptions caused by the pandemic, the informational session will be offered virtually and in two time slots to accommodate time zone differences as detailed below. There is no capacity limit for the informational session. However, we would appreciate it if colleagues interested in attending the informational session could register their participation via the corresponding link for each session:

1. Saturday [December 4th, 2021] 9:00 ¨C 10:00 AM (Central European Time) / 4:00 ¨C 5:00 PM (China Standard Time) (this session is likely to work for AIS Regions 2 & 3) Register at: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMkf-ugqjsrH9QYY3NzZ8BQOjkIN2oiPH0F<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fus02web.zoom.us%2Fmeeting%2Fregister%2FtZMkf-ugqjsrH9QYY3NzZ8BQOjkIN2oiPH0F&data=04%7C01%7C%7Cc0ff1aa2a27d4000a52a08d9a28360e4%7C875c414e5d004cdbb77adeae5d6ab201%7C1%7C0%7C637719507448853073%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=2k1jrz%2FK4oW6ltLoILTut54eDLbh95ZyMnqlVdFUuuw%3D&reserved=0>

CFP: Special Issue on Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) in IS Research @ Information Systems Journal (ISJ)

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to contribute to a Special Issue on ¡°Transcending the Qualitative-Quantitative Divide in IS Research Using QCA as a Configurational, Comparative Approach¡± at Information Systems Journal (ISJ). The Call for Papers (CFP) for the special issue can be found at: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/pb-assets/assets/13652575/ISJ%20SI%20TQQD-FINAL%20(002).pdf

The aim and purpose of this special issue are to encourage IS researchers to submit their best work on Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA), whether they are underpinned by Critical Realist case studies, interpretivist approaches, or more positivist traditions. We are particularly interested in how QCA techniques can be employed to advance theory development and validation that celebrate the inclusivity of various research paradigms. We are also calling for methodological innovations combining, for example, QCA with process-tracing techniques, Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with two-step QCA, or methodological innovations deploying QCA to harness unstructured data sets or utilising sequential research designs. Apart from methodological contributions, we also invite submissions of empirical studies where QCA constitutes the overarching methodology.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
* QCA in theory development and/or validation
*       QCA and process-tracing techniques
*       QCA and mixed-methods research
*       QCA and multi-methods research
* QCA and Critical Realist case studies
* QCA and Positivist case studies
*       QCA and panel data
*       QCA and qualitative coding
*       QCA and quantitative studies
*       QCA and temporality
*       Small/Medium-N QCA
*       Large-N QCA
* Empirical papers where QCA is the overarching methodological approach

Submission:
All manuscripts should follow the ISJ¡¯s Instructions for Authors and will go through screening by the Special Issue Editors to assess their fit with the Special Issue and their readiness to be sent out to review. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will go through the review process. Reviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.

Deadline for submission: March 31, 2022 (no extension will be made)
