PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE
The UNLV Department of Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MET)
in the Lee Business School – AACSB accredited at both the undergraduate and
graduate levels – is committed to increasing the research profile of LEE.
The department consists of 27 full-time faculty, including 23 tenured and
tenure-track faculty, spanning the disciplines of Information Systems (IS),
Management, and Entrepreneurship. The management and entrepreneurship areas
within the MET department consists of 14 full-time faculty members
(excluding the Dean), including 12 tenured and tenure-track faculty.
Current faculty members in the Management, Entrepreneurship, and
Technology department have published in top information systems, business,
and management and journals such as *MIS Quarterly, Information Systems
Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, **Management
Science*, *Production and Operations Management,* *Strategic Management
Journal*, *Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management*,
*Organization
Science*, *Journal of Business Venturing,* *Journal of International
Business Studies*, *Journal of Applied Psychology*,* Personnel
Psychology*,* Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, *among
others. MET faculty have also published in other reputed journals outside
the business discipline, such as in medical informatics (*Journal of the
American Medical Informatics Association) *and psychology (*Psychological
Methods*), and have received grants from prestigious US Federal Agencies
(e.g., NSF, AHRQ).
ROLE of the POSITION
The MET Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor of Business Analytics to begin in Fall 2022. This position is
part of the “Ubiquitous Data” cluster, which the university recently
established as a focal area of research that cuts across disciplinary
boundaries and touches multiple schools and colleges, including business,
engineering, and healthcare, among others. The new faculty member will
conduct research leading to high-quality refereed publications, teach in
the various programs offered by the department, and perform service
activities for the department, school, university, and the profession.
Expectations are that the successful candidate will publish on subjects and
topics related to business analytics, ubiquitous data, and information
systems in premier business and information systems (IS) journals,
and/or premier journals in related disciplines (e.g., computer science,
healthcare, etc.). We also expect that the new faculty member will pursue
and receive grants awarded by major federal (NSF, NIH, AHRQ, etc.), state,
and other agencies and foundations, particularly on issues and topics
related to business analytics and ubiquitous data. Given the university’s
heavy emphasis on interdisciplinary research, the recent establishment of
the UNLV School of Medicine and CEPH accreditation of the School of Public
Heath also provide exciting opportunities for high quality, collaborative
research and grant seeking on analytics/data-focused, healthcare-related
topics. The successful candidate will also enhance the department’s
teaching capabilities in business analytics and technical areas, and will
be expected to teach as needed in the various graduate and undergraduate IS
programs offered by the department, including the new, university-wide MS

tenure-track faculty is two courses a semester.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Ph.D. in Information Systems, or a related
field, from an AACSB and regionally accredited college or university. ABDs
may be considered but credentials must be obtained prior to the start of
employment. We are looking for candidates who, at the minimum, have
strong preparation in econometrics and use it in their research work.
Preference will be given to candidates who have additional training
in and/or
research using other analytical and quantitative methods, such as machine
learning, mathematical modeling/simulation, management science, operations
research, etc. Preference will also be given to candidates with prior
teaching experience and evidence of effective teaching. The successful
candidate will have a strong research program in topics and areas that
relate to business analytics and/or ubiquitous data, as evidenced by
publications (or advanced stages of revision) in premier journals and/or a
successful history of receiving/submitting grants from noted federal or
state agencies (such as NSF, NIH, AHRQ etc.) and a substantial research
pipeline. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position
is contingent upon funding. UNLV offers an attractive package of
benefits that includes a generous state contribution to a defined
contribution retirement plan. Additionally, Nevada does not have a state
income tax, and UNLV employees do not pay Social Security tax.
