Dear IFIP 8.2 members,

A voice from the past! It would be great if you would watch a Film on the following You Tube link.

The film was commissioned to celebrate the very first live, time critical application of a digital computer at the HQ of the food giant J. Lyons & Co on November 30th November 1951. The theme of the Film fits your agenda nicely and is intended to be used for educating purposes.

It would be good if you check out the significance of the Films message. Please let me know if any of you have taken the opportunity to see the Film and assessed it as a useful addition to your agenda,

Best wishes,
Frank Land,
LEO Computer Society Historian

Subject: [AISWorld] [REMINDER] IFIPWG8.2 Jubilee Panel and Workshop on the future of research on information systems and organisations (Dec 08, starting at 19:00 UTC)

IFIP WG 8.2 likes to remind all of its members, friends, and other interested parties of its special online event this year to discuss "Where next? New directions for research on the interaction of information systems and organisations."

This is a two-part event in which we first welcome Dirk Hovorka, Matthew Jones, Eric Monteiro, and Susan Scott to a panel discussion reflecting on WG 8.2's contribution to research on information systems and organisations over the years and identifying challenges and opportunities for the IS community and society at large in the decades ahead. This part of the event is open and free to all, just join us on Dec 08 at 19:00-20:00 UTC (13:00-16:00 CST) at: https://unil.zoom.us/j/92145609987?pwd=d0dQRHVMUmVJTTBrOHB3U2t0eE92dz09

We are following-up on the panel with a workshop in which friends and members of 8.2 are invited to discuss the implications of themes raised by panel members for the working group and its future directions. For details on the workshop, including instructions on how to sign up, please check: https://ifipwg82.org/node/1528

We are looking forward to welcoming you all on December 08. For IFIP WG8.2

Matthew Jones, Vice-chair
Benjamin Mueller, Secretary
