*Department Chair Positions*
The Department Chairs for the Departments of Accounting, Information
Systems & Supply Chain Management, and Marketing will act as the department
lead administrator. The department chair is responsible for implementing
University and School policies and procedures at the department level. This
position reports to the Associate Dean of the School and works in
cooperation with the faculty to ensure quality in educational delivery and
compliance with AACSB accreditation standards
Applicants for the Department Chair role in any area should have completed
their doctoral degree from an AACSB accredited institution and should, at
the minimum, meet the requirements for an Associate Professor. They will
join the faculty at either the Associate or Full Professor level, depending
on qualifications. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching at both
the undergraduate and graduate levels, advising and mentoring students,
forging relationships with industry partners, and driving an innovative
curriculum. In addition, this candidate will have a strong academic
background and a demonstrated ability to publish in high-quality journals
in their respective fields. Preference will be given to candidates who are
qualified as Scholarly Academic based on faculty qualification
standards/AACSB accreditation standards and who have discipline-related
work experience.
*The Abraham Pishevar Endowed Chair of Finance and Entrepreneurship*
The Abraham Pishevar Endowed Chair of Finance and Entrepreneurship must be
able to offer effective educational experience to students, conduct
discipline-relevant scholarly research, and engage in professional
development, and service activities at Howard University. Appointment to
the faculty rank of Associate or Full Professor is made to a person who has
completed the final earned degree (e.g., Ph.D.) from an AACSB-accredited
institution in either (1) Finance with experience and/or research in
entrepreneurship or (2) Entrepreneurship with experience and/or research in
finance. The faculty member who will be hired for this position will
support financial wellness, literacy, new venture capital, and
entrepreneurship. Relevant research topics could include conventional
investment of financial assets, alternative investments strategies and
financing for entrepreneurial activities to promote new businesses,
innovation, start-ups, incubators, and small and medium-sized enterprises,
to name a few. The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated ability to
publish in high quality journals in the respective fields. The qualified
candidate must be able to teach in either undergraduate or graduate courses
on a full-time basis. Salary and benefits are competitive and will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience of the candidate.
*John Jacobs Visiting Professor of Marketing*
Howard University is seeking a visiting scholar who will serve as the John
Jacobs Visiting Professor of Marketing for a two-year period. The scholar
is expected to have an internationally recognized research record and
desire to research at a high level during their tenure at the University.
We are specifically interested in hiring an individual who will provide
disciplinary expertise and research mentorship to marketing faculty
members, and in doing so elevate the Department’s research profile. In
addition, the ideal candidate will value collegiality, and have a track
record of publishing in top-tier business journals. This position is open
to individuals who meet the qualifications for a full professor. The
prospective start date for this position is July 2022. Additional roles and
responsibilities include:
Develop a nationally and internationally recognized research program,
including grant funded research. Conduct and collaborate on high quality
research leading to publications in top-tier journals. Provide thought
leadership and share insights through scholarship engagement with faculty,
students, and the community. Inspire and mentor faculty through excellence
in research.
*Tenure Track Positions*
Applicants for tenure track positions should have completed their doctoral
degree from an AACSB accredited institution by Fall 2021 prior to joining
the faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels. The ideal
candidate will be comfortable teaching at both the undergraduate and
graduate levels, advising and mentoring students, and driving an innovative
curriculum. In addition, this candidate will have a strong academic
background and a demonstrated ability to publish in high-quality journals
in their respective fields. Preference will be given to candidates who are
qualified as Scholarly Academic based on faculty qualification
standards/AACSB accreditation standards and who have discipline-related
work experience.
The Department of Finance & International Business welcomes applications
from all qualified candidates but is particularly interested in applicants
who have demonstrated interest in researching and teaching in the following
areas: corporate finance, investments, capital markets, or valuation.
The Department of Information Systems & Supply Chain Management welcomes
applications from all qualified candidates but is particularly interested
in applicants who have demonstrated interest in researching and teaching in
the following areas: Operations Management, Cyber Security, Technology,
Supply Chain Management, Quantitative Business Analysis, Data Analytics or
Data Science.
The Department of Marketing welcomes applications from all qualified
candidates but is particularly interested in applicants who have
demonstrated interest in researching and teaching in the following areas:
marketing analytics, sales, retailing, sports, or entertainment marketing.
*Full-time Instructors and Adjunct Instructors*
Appointment as Instructor is accorded to a person who holds appropriate
academic or professional qualifications and gives promise of excellent
teaching. The instructor’s chief responsibility consists of classroom
instruction. Full-time and part-time teaching assignments are made on an
annual basis based on programmatic instructional needs. Candidates must
show evidence of teaching and professional potential on the basis of past
experience. At the minimum, a master’s level degree in the subject area is
a mandatory requirement. For Accounting, a CPA or other related
certification is required. Teaching proficiency in an online environment is
preferable. The instructors are expected to be able to plan and conduct
courses with little or no supervision. The ideal candidate should be
comfortable teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels,
advising and mentoring students, and driving an innovative curriculum.
