Track: Virtual Communities and Collaboration (VCC)

Minneapolis, MN, August 10-14, 2022

In an increasingly digital era, companies face numerous challenges to
operate and compete. They are scrambling to transform their businesses to
improve customer experiences, motivate their workforce, and evolve
innovative business models. For many businesses, online crowdsourcing is
essential for bringing in fresh knowledge and developing digital
strategies. Indeed, it enables them to improve their businesses in areas
such as advertising, product development, recommendation systems,
forecasting, and data/business analysis. To take advantage of
crowdsourcing, businesses must first understand how members of virtual
communities in crowdsourcing platforms collaborate with one another, and
how they can eventually engage with organizations to assimilate and apply
new knowledge. The goal of this mini-track is to better understand this
phenomenon, especially as it relates to digital transformation within
organizations. Specifically, the track aims to disseminate high-quality
research in this area and extend the existing boundaries of knowledge about
crowdsourcing and digital collaborations.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to the following:
• How crowdsourcing shapes organizational strategies in sourcing, new
product development, marketing, business/data analytics, and the like.
• Crowdsourcing and its implications for organizations
• Challenges and opportunities of crowdsourcing from an organizational
perspective
• Crowdsourcing and organizational innovation
• Crowdsourcing and the digital workforce
• Crowdsourcing as organizational learning and knowledge management strategy
