Call for Papers

26th EURAS Annual Standardisation Conference
- Standardisation and Open Source -

8 - 10 June 2022
Glasgow, Scotland

Organised by
The European Academy for Standardisation (EURAS)
Adam Smith Business School, The University of Glasgow, UK

Hosted by
Adam Smith Business School, The University of Glasgow, UK

Just like standardisation and innovation have long been considered as
almost mutually exclusive, so have been Open Source Software (OSS) and
Standardisation. This former view has long since changed, the latter is
about to change as well. This is not such a big surprise; after all, a
common OS-implementation of a standard would be a great step forward
towards interoperability. Moreover, just like standardisation
OSS-development may be considered a platform for technology and
knowledge transfer. Indeed, a certain paradigm shift may be observed,
from ╘specification-first╒ to ╘parallel╒ and it looks like the two
communities are in a very early stage of merging, at least selectively;
stakeholders clearly overlap at both the corporate and the individual
level. However, a clear interface between the two communities and
processes is still missing and mechanisms for formal co-operation have
rarely been implemented. Moreover, IPR issues remain a potential source
of conflicts, as do the different forms of governance. And policy makers
still need to fully endorse ╨ and perhaps even enforce ╨ OSS, especially
in public procurement.

Against this background, EURAS 2022 solicits papers on the above theme.
However, papers on other standardisation topics will also be considered.
Sample topics include, but are not limited to:
