PhD Position in Recommender Systems/Data Science

The Institute of Information Systems Engineering, Research Unit of E-Commerce at TU Wien, is offering a full-time PhD position (40 hours per week) at the newly established Christian Doppler Laboratory for Recommender Systems (https://recsys-lab.at/). The position is dealing with group recommendations, group decision making and social network analysis in the area of fashion recommender systems.

The starting date is as soon as possible and we offer up to 3 years of appointment. The workplace will be TU Wien, Favoritenstrasse 9-11/194-04, A-1040 Vienna, Austria. The salary for this position is determined by the Austrian Collective Agreement for university staff (currently at the beginning EUR 3,058.60/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week). Prior experience may result in higher salary.

Admission conditions:

We are looking for a candidate with a Diploma or Master’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent program in Austria or abroad, who has strong oral and written communication skills in English. Profound knowledge of one or more of the following research areas are required: recommender systems, user modeling, network science, machine learning and large-scale data analysis.
