Dear Young Anna,
Thank you for asking about the Journal of Information Technology (JIT).
Quality:
JIT is one of the eight "Senior Scholars' Basket" journals selected by the AIS. The AIS (US) is the central professional organization in the IS discipline and the host of this mailing list. AIS Senior Scholars' Basket: https://aisnet.org/page/SeniorScholarBasket. AIS 2020 Journal Survey: https://aisnet.org/page/SeniorScholarSurvey/Senior-Scholars-Journal-Review-Quality-Survey.htm.
In the UK, JIT is rated A ("4") in CABS (Chartered Association of Business Schools) journal quality ranking: https://charteredabs.org/academic-journal-guide-2021/.
In Germany, JIT is rated A in the VHB (Verband der Hochschullehrer/innen für Betriebswirtschaft) JOURQUAL3 journal ranking:
https://vhbonline.org/fileadmin/user_upload/JQ3_WI.pdf .
In Australia, JIT is rated A* in the ABDC (Australian Business Schools' Dean Council) journal ranking: https://abdc.edu.au/research/abdc-journal-quality-list/.
For more ratings/rankings, see Anne-Wil Harzing's page: https://harzing.com/download/jql68_title_2.pdf.
Selectiveness:
JIT is "very "selective" in an acceptance rate sense. We are a quarterly journal (still in print) and publish ~25 papers per year against about ~500 submissions. Thus, we can only accept about 5% of submissions and are among the most selective IS journals (we try to make early desk decisions so authors’ know early if we are interested). In terms of content, JIT is fairly open. JIT is rooted in the IS field but is also interested in interdisciplinary work such as from finance, media studies etc. (or even political economy, you may know Shoshanna Zuboff's surveillance capitalism paper?, for example) – always provided the research is centrally concerned with IT. We publish essays, reviews, opinion piece and empirical studies. JIT has a preference for innovative and impactful research as well as intellectual and scholarly debate.
Please read current issues for what we publish – and send us your best work if you think "it's a match"! The JIT homepage is here: https://journals.sagepub.com/toc/JIN/current.
Hope this is helpful!
Daniel

Subject: [AISWorld] Ranking of the Journal of Information Technology
Dear Colleagues,
Does anyone here have information about the quality, and selectivity of the Journal of Information Technology? Any ranking information by a credible association? I know that the Journal of Information Technology is ranked among the top five journals in Information Systems by the Chartered Association of Business Schools, 2021 Academic Journal Guide. If you know any other source, I’d appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Young Anna Argyris, PhD
