Location: The Centre for Research on Engineering Software Technologies (CREST), University of Adelaide, Australia

Type of Research Activities: Experimental and Applied R&D in close collaboration with industry/government partners

Research Fellow (Level A)

Salary Range: $89,610 - $96,007 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17%

Research Fellow (Level B)

Salary Range: $104,624 - $119,391 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17%

Duration: Fixed term position for 30 months (Further extension is possible based on the performance and funding availability)

These positions will support our well established and growing collaborative R&D with industry and government agencies focused on developing sovereign capabilities in designing and evaluating large scale distributed systems for providing secure and reliable software solutions.

Lead applied R&D for designing, developing, evaluating softwarized infrastructure for data-driven software security

The postdoctoral research fellow is expected to be involved in the following responsibilities:

- Conduct research on the assigned project(s) with minimum supervision either as a member of a team or, where appropriate, independently, and the production or contribution to the production of conference and seminar papers and publications
- Building and evaluating appropriate prototypes/testbeds based on the outcomes of the research to be carried out
- Attendance at group and project meetings
- Advice within the field of research to post-graduate students in consultation with the senior researcher

To be successful you will need:

Position # 1 (Level A)

- PhD in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or closely related area (completed).

- Demonstrated ability in conducting and publishing high quality research on one or more of the topics related to Security and Privacy by Design, User-Centric Secure Software Development and Design and Evaluation of Resilient Software Systems.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Evidence-Based Methods, Software Quality, Productivity and Decision making for Security and Privacy by Design, Applied Machine Learning & Natural Language Processing (NLP), Security and DevOps/MLOps.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more programming/scripting technologies for research and development of Secure Software and/or automation tools, including, but not limited to, Java, C, Python, Bash, PowerShell or X86 Assembly.

- Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and ability to contribute to the diversity of the School community.

Position # 2 (Level A)

- PhD in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or closely related area (completed).

- Demonstrated ability in conducting and publishing high quality research on one or more of the topics related to Engineering Secure Software Systems Built for/with IoT, Edge and Fog Computing, AI and Big Data.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of one of or more of Secure Design and Validation for Large Scale Systems, Blockchain Based Technologies, Applied AI and Machine Learning.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more programming/scripting technologies for research and development of Secure Software and/or automation tools, including, but not limited to, Java, C, Python, Bash, PowerShell or X86 Assembly.

- Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and ability to contribute to the diversity of the School community.

Position # 3 (Level B)

- PhD in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or closely related area (completed).

- Demonstrated ability in conducting and publishing high quality research on one or more of the topics related to Software Security, Security and Privacy by Design, Human-AI interaction for Secure Software, Platforms and Architecture for Resilient Software Systems, and Human Factors in Secure Software Engineering.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods, Software Design Methods for Secure AI-Enabled Software, Applied Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), DevSecOps, Secure of MLOps. Your knowledge of the indicated areas can be from technical or socio-technical perspective.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more programming/scripting technologies for research and development of Secure Software and/or automation tools, including, but not limited to, Java, C, Python, Bash, PowerShell or X86 Assembly.

- Minimum 2 years relevant postdoc and/or industry experience.

- Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and ability to contribute to the diversity of the School community.

Position # 4 (Level B)

- PhD in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or closely related area (completed).

- Demonstrated ability in conducting and publishing high quality research on one or more of the topics related to massively distributed data intensive systems, applied AI/ML/Optimized Solutions for cloud/edge/fog large scale system.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with designing and implementing intelligent deployment and monitoring tools and sustainability sensitive software systems.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more programming/scripting technologies for research and development of Secure Software and/or automation tools, including, but not limited to, Java, C, Python, Bash, PowerShell or X86 Assembly.

- Minimum 2 years relevant postdoc and/or industry experience.
