The Process Discovery Contest (PDC) organized as part of the ICPM 2022 conference is dedicated to the assessment of tools and techniques that discover business process models from event logs. The objective is to compare the efficiency of techniques to discover process models that provide a proper balance between “overfitting” and “underfitting”. A process model is overfitting (the event log) if it is too restrictive, disallowing behavior which is part of the underlying process. This typically occurs when the model only allows for the behavior recorded in the event log. Conversely, it is underfitting (the reality) if it is not restrictive enough, allowing behavior which is not part of the underlying process. This typically occurs if it overgeneralizes the example behavior in the event log.

The PDC 2022 test contains 480 event logs, for which a model needs to be discovered (training logs), and 96 pairs of event logs that are used to evaluate the discovered models (test logs and base logs).


## Submission

Please let Eric Verbeek (H.M.W.Verbeek at tue.nl <mailto:H.M.W.Verbeek at tue.nl>) know that you aim to submit your implemented discovery algorithm. Eric will then provide you with further information as well as a link where you can upload your submission.

The winner of the competition will be the discovery algorithm with the best end score.
