The University of Melbourne is seeking to make a new appointment in Information Systems at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level (Levels B/C).
About the Role
The University of Melbourne is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated academic to play a leading role in contributing to the teaching and research program in the School of Computer Information Systems (CIS) and the Information Systems (IS) group, enhancing interdisciplinary research within the Faculty and the University in collaboration with external organisations.
We are looking for an aspiring leader in Information Systems, with ambition to publish in high quality journals and conferences (including the Basket of Eight list of IS journals and conferences such as ECIS, ICIS, HICSS, PACIS), mentor research students, and secure independent grant funding to support a program of research, in collaboration with colleagues in the School. You will contribute to teaching into programs including the Master of Information Systems, the Master of Business Analytics (joint with the Melbourne Business School), the Master of Applied Analytics, and other graduate, undergraduate and professional development programs, and take on administrative roles commensurate with the position.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-class Information Systems research group with opportunities to work closely with internationally respected groups across digital innovation, digital health, business analytics, decision-making, security & privacy, law, medicine, and beyond. You will also have opportunity to contribute to related University-level initiatives such as the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Ethics (CAIDE) and the Centre for Digital Transformation of Health.
Responsibilities include:
* Providing a significant degree of scholarly research initiative and collaboration in the discipline of Information Systems, exercising leadership over projects, securing funding and publishing in top-tier conferences and journals.
* Fostering an excellent teaching experience for our students including coordinating and conducting lectures and tutorials at undergraduate and postgraduate level and engagement in continuous teaching innovation and improvement.
* Supervising undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate students engaged in coursework or smaller research projects.
* Building and fostering partnerships with industry, government, collaborators at other Universities and other stakeholders that contribute to the engagement of teaching and research in the wider community engagement.

About You
You are aspiring to become an established academic, able to exhibit excellence in research, teaching, engagement and leadership. Your strong communication skills and relationship management skills enable you to effectively engage with University staff at all levels and to build networks with industry and other researchers, both local and international. Your experience in the coordination of courses and strong record in research or research potential will be vital to your success in this role.
You will also have:
* A PhD in information systems, or equivalent closely aligned disciplines
* Potential to achieve the highest levels of scholarship
* Capacity to teach effectively across a range of subjects in information systems and information technology, including the capacity to develop and deliver seminars and lectures and contribute to other teaching activities

Operating withing The School of Computing & Information Systems (CIS), the IS group benefits from access to world class computing research facilities, AI, big data, and HCI experts, graduate students, and labs. It includes leading researchers in various IS research areas, such as health IT, cybersecurity management and IS user behaviours. Its members publish often in basket of 8 journals, such as MIS Quarterly, Journal of MIS, EJIS, ISJ and in many other leading outlets. They also serve on editorial boards, such as for MIS Quarterly and Information & Management.
