Information Technology Adoption and Diffusion for the Next Generation

Submission Deadline (Extended): *October 14, 2022* (11:59 pm ET)

The next generation will be living in a substantially different world. On
the one hand, we are facing major challenges, such as climate crisis,
spread of misinformation, and COVID19 pandemic, that can shape a
fundamentally different future for the next generation. On the other hand,
we are witnessing an unprecedented rate of digital transformation that will
shape a different future with new opportunities and challenges. Information
Technology (IT) is constantly changing and shifting the ways we work and
live. The next generation of employees and business leaders will be digital
natives, people who have born into and grown up with the Internet, smart
phones, social media, and gig economy, having minimal, if any, direct
experience or recollection of how societies and organizations operated
before these innovations. As a result, now more than ever, there is renewed
interest in Information Systems (IS) with advances in AI and Robotics, big
data analytics, IoTs, metaverse, security, digital twins and the like, as
well as the increased importance that effective use of IS has in the modern
organizations and societies.

While the phenomenon of organizations, individuals, and societies going
through digital transformation has become more prevalent, our understanding
of it will benefit from further scientific investigation and a tight
alignment to theoretical lenses used in research on adoption and diffusion
of IT. The DIGIT 2022 workshop provides an opportunity for researchers to
come together and generate vibrant discussions and exchanges of ideas about
how individuals, organizations, and societies can harness information
technologies for the next generation. In addition to papers adhering to the
theme of IT adoption and diffusion for the next generation, research in
other IT adoption and diffusion research domains are also welcome.

Potential topic areas include, but are not exclusive to:

• Adoption and diffusion of next-generation digital solutions.
• Understanding digital natives and their adoption and use of IT.
• Next generation digital ecosystems and their effects on adoption,
diffusion, and abandonment of digital solutions.
• Diffusion of new digital solutions in support of the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs).
• Adoption and diffusion of digital solutions to help combat climate crisis.
• Adoption and diffusion of digital solutions for achieving digital
resilience in relation to the threats of major crises, such as climate
change, pandemics, and misinformation campaigns.
• Individual and collective technology use behaviors, such as adaptation,
coping, and improvisation in the presence of major crises and disruptions.
• Multi-level studies considering the rippling effects of disruptions and
their implications for IS adoption and diffusion.
• New qualitative, quantitative, and design-led methodological approaches
to examine the dynamics of IT adoption and diffusion in disruptions.


Submitted research can be conceptual, analytical, design-oriented, or
empirical in nature. The workshop will include paper presentations, paper
roundtables, and panel discussions.

Instructions for Contributors:
In the interest of discussing the most current research in this area, we
welcome

• Completed research papers (fourteen single-spaced pages)
• Research-in-progress papers (seven single-spaced pages)

All submissions will be blind reviewed. Papers should not have been
published previously in proceedings or journals, nor be under review
elsewhere, but it is the general objective of the workshop that they will
be submitted to a premier outlet after the DIGIT workshop.
Proceedings of the workshop will be published in the AIS Electronic
Library. The authors can choose whether they want the full paper or only an
extended abstract to be published. For past proceedings see:

Instructions for Submissions:
The deadline for submission of papers is Friday, October 14, 2022 at 11:59
pm EDT. We will review and accept manuscripts on a rolling basis until the
deadline.

Papers, both complete research (14 pages) and research-in-progress (7
pages) submissions, must be single-spaced, include an abstract, and
submitted in Microsoft Word format. Page counts exclude the title page,
references and appendices. The title page should include the paper title
and the authors' names, affiliations, and e-mail addresses. The main body
of the paper should have a title, but no author identification. Any
submission that exceeds page length limits will be rejected without review.

All papers must conform to the instructions given in the DIGIT 2022
submission template, which can be found attached and online at:

All paper submissions should be sent electronically as a Microsoft Word

Instructions for Participation:
The workshop date will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022, as an
in-person event. At least one author must register and attend the workshop
to present the paper if the work is accepted. DIGIT provides a limited
number of scholarships to Ph.D. students with accepted manuscript for the
workshop
