[AISWorld] ECIS 2023: CFP for workshop on Social justice and inclusion to Co-create Sustainable Digital Futures.

AIS SIG Social Inclusion and AIS Women College are collaborating for this workshop. It is the first time that SIG SI and AISWN are jointly doing the workshop for ECIS!
This workshop explores the interplay between social inclusion, information systems, and sustainability. Sustainability in our world is fueled by the interconnectedness of ideas, experiences,  and perspectives from individuals and societies across the globe using various information systems. Consequently, it is imperative that we understand the role of information systems in individuals’ and groups’ full participation in the normal, normatively-prescribed activities of the societies in which they are embedded.

We encourage submissions of research ideas, extended abstracts, research-in-progress, and articles related to the workshop theme to Co-create Sustainable Digital Futures for the ecosystems using information systems. In addition, we welcome relevant theoretical, empirical, and intervention submissions that relate to the conference theme promoting research, pedagogy, and outreach on all aspects of social justice and inclusion in the field of Information Systems (IS).


Relevant research topics include the role of social justice in facilitating sustainability across boundaries, how to design IS and innovation ecosystems based on social justice and inclusion principles; critical analysis of measures of efficiency and effectiveness in relation to sustainability; the gender gap in the IS field; gender minorities, the inclusion of the differently-abled, the inclusion of neurodiversity in IT, the intersectionality of identities (such as ethnicity, gender, and socio-economic class), socioeconomic divisions that impact access to or use of technology, the digital divide, under-served groups, and a range of topics related to human diversity, and the “haves” and “have nots” in interconnected digital environments.

***Instructions for Submissions***

Papers should be submitted electronically to:  sam.zaza at mtsu.edu with the subject line: Submission to ECIS 2023 SIGSI & AISWN Workshop


The submission filename should include the first author’s last name, e.g., Zaza-ECIS2023.PDF. In the case of multiple submissions, add a number to the last name, e.g., Zaza2-ECIS2023.PDF.


Papers should be formatted in accordance with the ECIS 2023 requirements and submitted in MS Word format. All submissions should have a cover page that includes the paper title, submission type, authors’ names, affiliations, and email addresses (cover page as a separate file). The main body of the paper should have a title but no author names. Completed research and research-in-progress papers should include abstracts of no more than 150 words in the main body of the paper.

Page limitations include title, text, tables, figures, and appendices. Page limitations do not include the cover page, abstract, and references.
