Minitrack: Digital Transformation and Servitization in SMEs and Entrepreneurship

Track: DIGITAL INNOVATION, TRANSFORMATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP (SIG DITE)
32nd Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2023), August 10-12, 2023 - Panama City, Panama

In the last decade, digital transformation and servitization have become active domains that attract growing interest from multiple actors. Digital transformation is defined as a process where digital technologies create disruptions that trigger strategic responses from organizations seeking to alter their value creation paths. In doing so, entrepreneurs and managers chose and implement digital technologies to modify and/or change their business models in order to provide new revenue and value creation opportunities. In such a context, servitization refers to a firm's transition from a product-centric perspective focusing on selling products to a more service-orientated perspective that focuses on facilitating customer value creation through advanced innovative services and digital solutions.
Following this trend, the challenges of digital transformation and servitization have gained significant attention from both academics and practitioners. Although existing research has explored these challenges from multiple perspectives, there is still little focus on SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) and entrepreneurship domains. More specifically, there is a lack of knowledge and understanding of digital transformation and servitization in the context of manufacturing SMEs, which are not only naturally dominated by a product-centric logic, but also concern professional and industrial services supporting them on the path to innovation in the digital age.
The proposed track aims at providing a forum for exchanging research ideas and best practices related to new business strategies and models, applications and management of digital transformation and servitization within the context of SMEs and entrepreneurship.
Authors of best papers in the Digital Transformation and Servitization in SMEs and Entrepreneurship track will be invited to submit revised versions for fast-track review and possible publication in a special issue of the Journal of Small Business & Entrepreneurship: https://www.tandfonline.com/journals/rsbe20
