The workshop is organized In conjunction with the 35th Int Conference on 
Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE 2023), Zaragoza, Spain, 12-16 
June, 2023.

The importance of modeling the essence of enterprises on a level that abstracts 
from operational details is increasingly recognized. Abstraction is needed for 
achieving interoperability and data integration, for instance. Ontological 
inquiry has received renewed interest because of the advent of complex 
information systems which rely on robust and coherent, formal representations 
of their subject matter.

The goal of the VMBO workshop series is two-fold: (i) to bring together 
researchers with an interest in value modeling and business ontology to present 
and discuss the current state of the art; (ii) to identify key areas for 
further research.
