===============================================================================
IMPORTANT DATES:
- Workshop proposal: April 24th, 2023
- Workshop confirmation: May 8th, 2023
- Paper submission: May 15th, 2023
- Notification of acceptance: July 2nd, 2023
- Camera Ready: July 17th, 2023
We welcome submissions for the 22nd International Conference on Perspectives in
Business Informatics Research (BIR 2023) to be hosted by University of
Camerino, Italy. BIR 2023 continues the tradition of annual events focused on
opening perspectives and stimulating new roadmaps for Business Informatics,
Business Information Systems and Information Systems Engineering, considering
both fundamental research and key application areas. From its very inception
the BIR conference focused on opening perspectives and stimulating new roadmaps
for Business Informatics, considering fundamental and applied research in both
technologies (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, data science, blockchain) and key
applications areas (e.g., Industry 4.0, smart cities, e-government, FinTech ...)
Current trends in business informatics research include the use of Big Data,
Open Data, data spaces and analytics, the development of AI and machine
learning technologies, the application of cloud computing, and the exploration
of blockchain technology. Additionally, research is being conducted into the
use of virtual reality, augmented reality, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in
business informatics. As these technologies become more prevalent, their
integration into business operations will become increasingly important.
BIR 2023 provides a rich environment for exchanging research findings and ideas
among scientists, practitioners, and doctoral students.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
BIR 2023 welcomes original unpublished contributions that have not been
reviewed elsewhere. All papers must be original and not simultaneously
submitted to another journal or conference. As in tradition of the BIR
conference all accepted papers will be published in the Springer LNBIP series.
The following paper categories are welcome:
- Research papers describing original research contributions (theoretical,
methodological or conceptual).
- Exploratory papers introducing new ideas and directions for research by
analyzing the current state of the art, identifying the gaps that need to be
addressed, and introducing an approach as a means to bridge them.
- Industrial and Practice papers discussing problems or challenges that
organizations (private or public) face, relate them to the wider domain and
provide useful insights to practitioners from similar organizations and
contexts.
Authors should consult Springer's authors' guidelines and use their proceedings
templates, either for LaTeX or for Word, for the preparation of their papers.
Springer encourages authors to include their ORCIDs in their papers. In
addition, the corresponding author of each paper, acting on behalf of all of
the authors of that paper, must complete and sign a Consent-to-Publish form
(this will be made available to authors of accepted papers). The corresponding
author signing the copyright form should match the corresponding author marked
on the paper. Once the files have been sent to Springer, changes relating to
the authorship of the papers cannot be made.
All submissions must be unpublished and not be under review elsewhere. Page
limit for all papers is 15 pages. A preliminary abstract submission is expected
one week before the paper submission deadline. Inclusion in the proceedings
volume is conditioned by having at least one author registration per paper and
having the paper presented during the conference.
Initial submissions should be made in PDF format using the EasyChair submission
page:
https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=bir20230
BIR proceedings are indexed in Scopus, WoS, and DBLP
A special issue with selected papers from the conference on a renowned IS
journal is under negotiation

WORKSHOP PROPOSALS
The BIR conference is one of the top European conferences in the field of
business information systems with a stable research community participating in
the annual event.
Along with the main conference, BIR traditionally attracts co-located
workshops. Many of them are recurring yearly events, but we welcome proposals
for additional workshops. The workshops will take place on September 15th, 2023
and can be half-day or full-day events.
BIR 2023 workshops and events may address all aspects of business information
systems. The workshop proposals will be evaluated on the basis of
scientific/technical interest, the clarity of the proposal, the innovativeness
of the topic, and the relevance for the field of Business Information Systems.
Proceedings of BIR 2023 workshops are planned to be collected in a common
volume of the CEUR-WS proceedings series (indexed by Scopus and DBLP). Workshop
chairs will be invited to be co-editors of the proceedings volume.
Extended versions of the best workshop papers will be invited to be published
in the journal Complex Systems Informatics and Modeling Quarterly
(https://csimq-journals.rtu.lv/)
